    Great video. Thought it would be a lot more complicated. Very excited to try this!

      @@BillOfAllTrades2016 it seems like the mower I got from you may need some restoration/sharpening, which I get to learn. Right side of the bottom bed knife is pretty beaten up and it doesn’t cut a paper. And both blades and bed are rusty. I will reference your restoration video :)

      The restoration video is more of a vague and brief sand and repaint. I never sharpened the restoration one. Best to refer to the sharpening videos like this one.

    I didn't know you could remove the wheel when I tried this years ago. Used a small wheel on my drill to turn the big wheel. Do something with those dandelions!

      Yes. Most manufacturers of mowers are similar to this method. Glad you found the video helpful. Thanks for watching. Please like and subscribe

    What i can't seem to understand, is what are the blades going against to sharpen the them? i have a Yardworks and for the life of me I can't figure out what goes against on that one either.

      There is a metal bar that the blades come in contact with that helps cut the grass. Please watch this video. It shows a better view of the contact point.

      The paste that I put on the blades has a grainy material in it so when it meets that bar it sharpens them. Hope this helped. Please like and subscribe

    What brand reel is this?

    • @BillOfAllTrades2016
      @BillOfAllTrades2016  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I can’t remember the brand. I no longer own this mower. I recall it being from home hardware though. Most mowers are a similar process. Hope this helped. Please like and subscribe

    I don’t disassemble my reel lawnmower I use round diamond grinding stone, 220 600 grit

    • @BillOfAllTrades2016

      Thanks for the tip. Some mower manufacturers do offer a stone that bolts onto the mower itself and works very easy and well. I used this valve grinding compound as it is super cheap and older mowers may be harder to source out the stone for it. Thanks for watching. Please like and subscribe

    I got a sharpening kit. The one with a paintbrush, grit media and a metal tube handle. Studying videos and directions I got the wheel off....and discovered the kit handle was too small! So, I used the other end. It has a hole in the side, and I was able to put a small screw through the handle top and wheel nub (it has a hole too...where the shim fits....just don't lose that shim!!!)

      Or why not just do the way I showed in the video? Way easier. No kit or modifications required. Some things need not be over thought.

    Ugh, I purchased a reel lawn mower because they are better for the environment, for me, this is overwhelming to have to do, but I will watch your video while attempting to do this, hahaha but how often do you need to sharpen the blades?

    • @BillOfAllTrades2016

      It all depends on how much use it gets. There is no real timeline. You can do this every couple years. Or just when you notice the blades jamming and not cutting well. Thanks for watching. Please like and subscribe
