Sooner is better than later to take advantage of spring feeding. They were sooo late last year... I hope I'm right 🤞🤞 It'd be better for parents and chicks😃
Yep definitely the dine n dash today, knowing exactly where and when to get a quick bite. She gobbled like it was her last meal. If it's eggs, then Yeeehaa! 👍 They're on their way to parenthood. Exciting times. I won't wish it upon them or you Murray, but an early start they might get two in provided the conditions remain good. I haven't seen my locals for a few days, only heard them occasionally warbling from the adjacent building's TV antenna. Looking forward to more of her/their breeding season videos. Good luck Maggies. Cheers Murray 😀🇦🇺
September is usually a dry month around here but the 110mm a couple of weeks ago will keep things green for a good while even if there's no more rain. I think it's a good season to get in early if that's what is happening. It's all "wait and see" mode. Cheers John 👍😁👍
I'll take that to the bank Cats 🤣🤣🤣 Yep, this tie of year it's al about the ladies. If there's anything I can do for her I'll give it a shot. It's a shame I can't understand magpie but the "Can I have a bale?" body language was pretty clear here
Collection is 100% proof of hatchlings, no two ways about it. You mentioned a little while ago that you thought they were ready. Good call! It felt really early to me given last year's slow start around here. This is - if I'm right - about six weeks or so earlier than last year's disaster. I hope this pair are ready for it 🤞🤞
@@mybackyard36 Murray do you watch the Peregrine Falcons YT livestream at 367 Collins St Melb? I've been watching for years, very fascinating. Saw the female lay her second egg yesterday. They had a disastrous year last year, so hoping this new pair have a better year. 🙏
@@nicolaj3294 I haven't seen it. I used to enjoy watching the falcons struggling to fly while carrying pigeons in the Brisbane CBD. It was quite a lot of weight for little raptors. Beautiful birds, it's great that they've adapted to city living.
Mine are acting like they have hatchings already, but I can't hear anything from the nest from my place. Two weeks earlier than last year but these two are a finely tuned breeding pair so nothing would surprise me
I believe these are both first-timers so they are likely to be complete amateurs. I'm assuming yours are collecting already. Last year mine were laying in October I think...and that was crazy late.
@mybackyard36 this is their third go at it; they're exhibiting different behaviour this time. The male has gone into territorial overdrive in the last couple of days. Their first year, they laid twice in one season, 3 months apart. Last year, they struggled with 3, so I'm interested to see what happens this time.
@@randominternetuser00 They lost their first clutch entirely the first year? Hence the second clutch? I'm convinced 3 chicks is really, really hard when they haven't left the nest. Pauly, my last male was run ragged with three chicks in the nest and he had a lot of parental experience. I hope my new pair have 1-2, and I hope the same for your pair - 3+ is a month or so off insanity for the male... Good thing (I think) that yours got in early though. I assume it's always easier to feed everyone with more of spring on your side rather than a later start. I hope they do well.🤞👍
Wonderful ❤
Your hypothesis fits with all known information.- I concur
💕🍀🤞🤞🤞so exciting!
Warm days in winter make for early laying?

Mums-To-Be are allowed to eat anything and everything they want. 😂
(4:20 Oh, I think you'll find she DID leave a tip, Murray...)

Mine are also acting like they have hatchlings as saw her come and collect several bugs in her beak and fly back to the nest.

@mybackyard36 no, 2 babies beginning of September then a third beginning of December. I was shocked....
@@randominternetuser00 Wow! That's really odd. Maybe they'll do it again.
