- So according to youtube, you're all searching for javazon stuff lately - so let's revisit the lightning amazon - both in javazon form, as well as in my preferred mode: The Infinity Amazon - which with sundering, terror zones, and changes to synergies, is actually feeling a lot better in a wider variety of areas, while the javazon itself still dominates cows in D2R.

I use a Faith a1 merc and Matriarchal Spear Infinity and go for the 9 frames per attack breakpoint. The Fanaticism is level 15.
that's definitely another strategy that works quite well :) (think that's actually the main reason they stuck with swords on the frenzy barb - to keep people from using dual beast lol)
This is exactly the build i went with last season, sooooo powerful
I really love this build and the ability to do Ubers on a Zon would be pretty tempting if it didn't require multiple HRs to get going. The biggest boost to me is that this provides Zons with a real sense of progression going from Fire arrow to start, through Java to gear, then finally to Infinity endgame.
The Sorc version of this build is also worth looking at. If CM is nerfed in any way my build of choice is going to be Nova/ES as you have easy access to a LR wand on swap, then post sunder you can get a big boost from Crescent Moon until you put the runes together for a Infinity Scythe (for style points). The big bonus of Cold and Nova is since you don't need Infinity on the merc you can run Insight and ES for a ton of survivability and ease of use.
Infinity Nova is still one of my favorite builds on the sorc :) - but yea, crescent moon is a solid pick on her until infinity with a sunder - though still need to pack in as many plus skills as possible to get that stagger (frost nova is pretty gnarly in this regard too, and requires even less gear).
I played last season as lightning spearzon with infinity and it was my favourite build ever. Super expensive though.
definitely a capstone setup - people really underestimate the chain lightning crowd clear - especially against more spread out enemy packs - when dealing with dense packs like cows, yea, LF still wins, but while going through WS Keep or Chaos (Mid Density groups) - it actually punches pretty close to on-par, and low-density groups it wins on.

we need a physical spear rune word for us nutty cats that build impalers and fendazons. the only options are underpowered uniques that were great in a patch covered with cobwebs and ebotd,which is a fine runeword but p stale. something roughly equivalent to death would be sweet, if not just making death a spear friendly runeword.
it's my favorite weapon for two of my favorite builds,tigerstriker and charger.
would love more attention given two-handed weapons in general - staves, spears, polearms, and 2h axes/mauls especially
Charged strike turns your spear into a a point-blank shotgun.
yup, now if only they would give teeth similar functionality ;) (since it unfortunately shares multishot rules rather than cb rules)
@@Alzorath Now that we can make infinity with spears, the amazon's charged bolt can do 200,000 damage per strike, which is the highest single-target damage of any character class/build in the game!
My Spearzone (fittingly named Sarissa) is currently at lvl17 and usues a Razortine, i have a Halbert to use once i got her to lvl19, named Death Bar, but i will go for Rune Word weapon as soon as i find a fitting weapon.

I am doing similar javazon build but just like my lightning sorc i find that lightning sunder is just not worth it for -70 resist for the few immunes i cant break just let merc handle them pretty fast.
Light sorc doesnt do any dmg with or without sunders. You need infinity for that. Trash the sunder charm when you can afford infinity.

Is Griffon's really needed with Infinity (and a plague merc) already decimating resistances of immunes when sundered? It seems like Kira's with a facet could improve it with much more survivability and affordability. Also, is there any merit to melee only Thunderstroke, allowing you to use a shield?
I know the damage output would be higher with the build above, but it seems like those lighting skills get so far into the absurdism for damage that there may be a more viable tradeoff of survivability and cost.
Currently struggling through building up one in Ladder, and so the cost is eating at me haha.
Shako is a good option. Has great MF, skills, and the +mana is nice

Should definitely still get it. Cconviction got nerfed to 1/5 reduction on monsters with broken immunities so you want the additional -res from Griffs
you dont need - res for non immune mobs, they die instant, but for mobs who are broken by infi or sunder charm, you need as much - as you can get. its huge dmg boost when you lower mobs resistance from let's say 95 to 70. Even from 95 to 85
You dont use physical dmg so its better to take ceremonial spear instead of matr.
Same lighting dmg and you can spare about 70points from strenght and dex to life.

yup, charged strike is easily one of the most effective boss killers in the game
I've been slowly porting over by LoD chars to D2R, and I was slightly annoyed to learn that the only character build of mine that actually got weaker was my fishyzon (FA/LF hybrid), because of the removal of lightning fury from charged strike's list of synergies. I hadn't paid much attention to that particular change, and I guess lightning zons were OP? (if they had infinity...) but it feels like my hybrid build got punished, and that I'd have to go all the way lightning to have a decent character again. Which feels a bit lame to me. So I'm not sure this change was so great overall. Seems like everyone else will achieve the same damage by maxing everything out, but now there is less flexibility, which is the exact opposite of the stated purpose of the change?
youtube ate my first attempt at a reply - but yea, basically I think the change was to make it less incentivized to dump into fury, since that and charged strike were pretty much guaranteed best pick - now there's a little more reason to choose lightning strike instead of fury if you're wanting mostly melee (they did changes like this to the paladin too) - though weirdly, it still feels like the sorceress and paladin are still getting most the love.
Its same as any sorc hybrid or pally hybrid. And no sorc and pally didnt get better. Sunders dont increase dmg. It breaks immunity. Hybrids just do less dmg. Infinity merc is still OP. That said hybrid is pre 75. Post 75 infinity or sunder. If you got infinity theres no point in using sunder. You not only break immunity but also exponentially increased your dmg.
I love Mancatcher infinity for faster ias. And use plague barb merc!
it is a tossup between the spears - I think once you hit critical mass, the slower speed doesn't hurt too much, but unless you are truly hitting that point where stuff crumbles in one hit, the speed can edge it out at times.
@@Alzorath very true. I've played around with both mat spear and mancatcher back in 2.4 before and the survivability felt much better with Mancatcher and plague barb merc for me.
Mat spear spec needed the faith merc.
It really depends on the playstyle too I think. Both weapons will rekt either way.
With fury why not use phoenix shield?
At min 11.00 you say with infinity and a sunder enemies will have AT MOST 33% light res (that's if they were originally light immune) and I assume you mean 95% rest - 45% (worst infinity possible) - 17% conviction. But isn't convictions effectivity dropped to 1/5 if it's worn by the merc only? I thought if u wield it, it's always going to be -85% elemental res from the aura, regardless if the enemy was sundered or not.
Conviction works the same regardless of the source - there is no self-wield bonus for it. It will always suffer from the sunder penalty if sundering occurs.
I'm leveling up a Spearazon, but infinity is not very likely as the runes are so hard to get.
Yea, the proper javazon is actually a lot more affordable - though they both can be quite fun (and even without infinity, this build can still throw down decent damage - and since it generally has higher physical too - especially if you hybrid it with a physical spearzon - it has a bit less trouble with immunes)

Still rather go regular javazon, mine can one hit most any monster except bosses with 10k damage. They have way more survivability with shield and resists which is a huge advantage.

To be honest very expensive, and to get to certain bosses you need mobility. Sadly while an alternate build, I don’t actually think it’s viable for any situation. A normal Javazon will kill any boss in 1 more second 😅
Fun fact:
If you go +4sk thunderstroke and 4s OS Monarch with 4x 5/5 Light facet and a2 infy merc with treachery and 15 ias Vamp gaze you do consistenz more damage to All Light Immunes
Except:
Light immunes Witz Light enchant but since Sunder charms are here and Amazon can have 50 % overall avoid stuff
You can run +- 0 resist lightning and be fine
So final conclusion
Go better +4sk thunderstroke and 4os Monarch with 4x 5/5 facet anf use a2 infy merc with enigma of course on yourself. And sunder charm of course.
Even if the infinity on yourself with sunder charm is less damage than t stroke + Monarch and sunder
Even if you loose 10-20 pierce Light
Since infy on ama is mostly good because -45 zo 55 pierce but with sunder and or infy on merc you do more damage.
You can calculated tjis also on Maxroll. Gg very easy.
So in the end:
If u have the choice use infy on merc and yourself tunda stroke +4sk and Monarch with 4x 5/5 Light jewel
1 fram faster attack and you end up even possivle to use phoenix for sustain on switch.

I tried ur suggest, but using infinity and plague merc it's just incredible, mostly for Uber, it's insane. Nothing compare that.
Build the hybrid
javazon does everything, spearzon is slow- make infinity for merc if anything - this game is all about kill speed- more kills = more loot and exp
or you could just play Frenzy barbarian with 2 griefs and give merc pride might aura , and fortitude. who cares about Teleport when you run so fast . best melee build becose damage, surviaiblity and movement speed

this build does fairly well with them, though the way I usually handle them is merc baiting to get them to focus the merc, and then I let the chain bounce and pop them while hitting a different type of enemy.
but the weapon's durability is too low 😅
Biggest con of this build is the expensive repair cost and the low survivability. Do not use superior base for Infinity. Eth titan's revenge and spirit shield are better for most situations. Jmods monarch with 4 lightning facets in it is expensive but the best shield.
I guess you can repair it with 1 ort rune in cube. And this build is cool. Now we got a pretty decent build for a spearzone. I wont recommand this build for ladder anyway. Unless you play a lot you wont get the necessary stuff to be efficient before the end of the next ladder season.
javazons better with enigma and jmod
I don't include things like JMoD and such in my guides since it's not something that can be realistically gotten in SP (I have found the stuff for Infinity multiple times over, same for enigma - yet at best only found a JMoB in all these years) - closest I could recommend would be a JWoD or JWoC - which despite being medium shields, are at least able to be shopped.
@@Alzorath I agree, but even with a jmob it is better than this build, even with a 4 socket monarch and 4 perfect facets, which is very attainable. I ran this build last season and it was very OP. But also i enjoyed the playing style. I tried to do a cold sorc this season from what i read about how broken it was but i really disliked the playing style and thought it was slower.
the build is nice but javazon is already the fastest boss killer in the game. This is still not S tier build

I dont awnderstand why you take Enigma and dont take FCR amulet? Amazon have very slow teleport cast break even with 68 fcr she teleports very slow , you need Arach and 15 fcr Amulets , you dont need deadly strike from Highlord you have 65% from critical very easy , and why you chose 5 act merc for Spear , you already melee fighter character you need Rogue from act 1 with Faith! Your Resistances is horroble , you need put CoH not enigma
Infinity builds are lame
Did you watch the video? Hes cleaning house with infinity. Even javazon has problems with bosses higher than players 3. This build would stake bosses even in players 8.
