This is my first Street Fighter game and I just got it yesterday. I played a few characters but as soon as I hit Zangief I immediately mained him so seeing this video today is PERFECT
5MP is really negative on block but you can buffer it, but it is a sticky buffer if that makes sense, so if you press 5MP twice and then L1, you will get 2 inputs of 5MP before you get the DR. Also Doto you can increase the DR counter hit damage by using DR-6MK-360P(any varient will do, you can also combo into the Level 3 super off 6MK after a DR punish) You can also use 6HP, it's plus on block and has very less recovery and if you dely it just enough you can combo it with 360HP or just use a throw, it also works on DR counters where there is no effective scaling BUT you have to delay it slightly or you will whiff.
One thing you need to practice with Gief, is that when they jump on you, you have to respond with spinning lariat: anti-air, is a skill you have to acquire if you wanna move up in the ranks
That plat. Ryu had me crying 😂. Drive impacting for an anti air, when he has at least 3 dedicated anti moves 🤦♂️. Felt that Gief grind my man. Fyi down HP, good anti air for gief if you dont think lariat will hit in time 👍👊

SF6 was the first SF where I played a grappler. I was Gold on Ken but plateaued hard at Gold 1. Then I tried Gief on Modern and was probably the most fun I’ve had in a long time. I play on PC with a keyboard.

When you get the drive Impact hit, consider the up close Siberian express for a bit better Oki than SPD. With the scaling the damage diff isn’t a ton.
