My neighbor lost their hose by the sea a year or so back. Up until then they denied that it could happen. I always say. It’s not climate change we argue over, even the blind can see clearly things are different. But it the notion that we are responsible. The argument is purely based on how much. To deny we mess up the eco systems worldwide is not rational. But to argue over how much is. If I pee in the ocean. I directly contribute to my neighbors house going into the drink. How much is the argument.
Hey Mike - sure appreciate you keeping North Idaho in your forecasts! Whether it’s t-storms and fires, blizzards and snow, my safety depends on being as prepared as possible for incoming weather. And a big YES to global warming data and what the experts are saying about it. Seems that those that scream are least informed…
I was about the same age in '68-'69 in Spokane. Remember it well. Snow piles from a next door parking lot was suitable for sledding down. Lot's a fun for a kid, probably not as much for my parents.
I am interested in learning your perspective on climate change. You have a good approach presenting information. It is not a big deal if your conclusions end up differing from mine. It is another opportunity to learn something new.
Hey thanks Michael for interesting info. It's after 1 am here in foothills hills of Mt Spokane. I just took my pack of dogs for a walk and enjoyed the lovely rain thats falling right now. Looking forward to your video on warming ocean.
Why? I can go anywhere find an opinion on climate change. What I like most about this weather page is that there is not an opinion. I just want facts about weather forecasts and conditions. I have an opinion on our changing climate but I’m quite sure you don’t want to read it.
Yes, please, Michael; I would really appreciate some data to see for myself to go with all the personal opinions/information/misinformation about climate change. I pay attention to the world around me, and I've noticed changes, but i also remember getting my first camera for a sixth grade field trip and taking pictures of our gorgeous green lawn on Christmas day. With your data, I got to see that it was neutral year with very little snow. It's interesting to see how weather works, with La Nina and El Nino cycles, and it helps me understand for myself and not slip in the ice onto a bandwagon 😀 🇨🇦✌️
Just purely based off the model numbers for ENSO, we are right in line with the 16/17 winter. Thats when tahoe had 625” at 8500ft. Ill take it after this years 400 or so inches.
Because of this channel, I am now very interested in learning more about weather. Thank you for educating me!! If you're looking for something to do an episode on, please explain what a derecho is and maybe mention bow echos - some terminology I heard for the first time in my life regarding the Illinois tornado activity in July 2024.
I have no idea how I found this channel and barely understand any of this but it’s still fascinating. I won’t dare listen on 2x fast like I normally do on other videos. Guy talks so fast!
Thank you thank you so much for this video. We should do this types of videos sometimes. Like how low/pressure influence the weather etc etc. Thanks Michael ❤ Edit: I think we might have weak la Nina this year. Praying lol. I hate dry winters. Also it's not always dry during la Nina in LA right? Remember 16_17 and 21-22 we had so much rain during la Nina. Will you explain that pretty please.
Thank you, Michael! Great video, thoroughly enjoyed it, really waiting on the "fluffy" season❄exciting times ahead! Active weather buddies unite!😃1950 the year I was born!
It's always good to discuss controversial topics - you might not hear what you want to, but you will have the opportunity to hear what information is available and see what data is available.
Great work Michael! Loving the updates. Someday would be great to see somewhere in the convergence zone like Everett, to see if that's similar or different to SeaTac 🤘😎
Controversial warming waters in the ocean, yes very interested. I know this sounds odd now, but in the early 80’s a professor at UC Davis wrote an article about studying the ocean temperatures and how it affected weather. Many scientists argued that it wasn’t true! Ha!
Looking at the snow fall total chart you have in the video. One thing I noticed is a very distinct pattern of tapering off snow fall after a large year, and then BAM a huge dump hear.
I'm looking forward to hearing your comments about Climate Change. In my opinion, reading James Hansen's (a NASA scientist who testified before Congress in the late 1980s) and Leon Simons's latest research papers is a must. Information on cooling Aerosols and Earth's Energy Imbalance doubling in just under 14 years needs to be understood.
Enjoyed this . I take it day by day October on ,, but some good windstorms would be nice . Do most of my shooting on Dallas Road Victoria BC but Tofino some day . If i get anything good this weekend will share via E-mail .
I have a feeling we are going to get some good snow storms this winter here in the Puget sound area. I feel like we get a good rebound effect usually after a no snow winter. 🤞
I look forward to you climate change video. Climate change is not controversial at all. The science that demonstrates climate change is the same science that predicts the weather, cures our cancer, and sends us to space.
Hi Michael. Yes, please do a video on climate change! This is not a political issue, though some have triedto make it one. It's real, and is happening now.
In India, its raining a lot this year i guess above average. I guess this is because we had a very hot May-July period (110F average temperature) and from July ending it started raining a lot so its all cold and close to 84F.
My understanding was that weak la ninas can be somewhat poor snowfall wise, in fact weak la ninia/el ninos can be some of the worst years for precipitation. I'm sure its more nuanced than that but it seems the data might point that way
Looking forward to your scientific presentation of what the experts are saying about global warming. Will it accentuate the RASP waves, prolong El Nino, make El Nino more frequent, change ocean winds/currents? Timeframe probabilities - what happens when we get to carbon-neutral emissions?
Going out of a limb here, but it'd be really interesting to hear your opinion on what a functional AMOC shutdown would do to the climate and weather in the PNW and West Coast of North America in general.
I'm interested in climate change, so I'm looking forward to your video. Do you do forecasts for the Spokane region? I'm curious about what kind of winter we will likely have here.
You can’t fight the data. I would love to watch your TH-cam video on Climate Change. Given your scientific knowledge I trust that you are giving us peer reviewed papers. Professor Wade at UBC, wrote a paper about ocean acidification as a result of heating. You should check it out. I have a question regarding le Nino, le Nina. Can underwater volcanic eruptions affect the cycles?
Data driven global warming conversation is needed, so go for it! Be certain to maintain context as this one is easy to cherry pick data to suport many theories.
This begs the question: how do we know their data haven't been cherry picked already to further their agendas? BTW, there is a significant difference between "data driven global warming" vs. "data driven man-made global warming." Don't you think?
Too controversial. LoL. You are data heavy, so back your claims up with data... and statistics. What I find fascinating is that predictions become reality: for example the cooling of the stratosphere. Fascinating stuff! Good luck.
As long as the sun is in an arcing mood, we will have major changes to the weather along with higher than normal geophysical activity. Volcanos eruptions and earthquakes. The ocean possibility warming due to radiatoactive (hot) water being dumped into the ocean. No such treatment to reduce atoms banging together. This reaction causes heat. Just a thought but Japan needs to rethink this practice along with DOE.
@PacificNorthwestWeather I don't know who is right I know when they're is money need to do study and if you don't come up with the answers that the groups or individuals the money might be cut off .but we do need to protect the environment
You can show us the data that they have. It is good and beneficial for us with a critical mind to know. The problem with their data is that we have no clue exactly how they measured it, when they measured it, where they measured it, or their methodologies to massage and filter the data collected. I will start listening if they can go all the way back, say 10,000 years or even more. The more raw and ancient the data, the merrier. At this point in time, I simply don't trust anything they tell us. It doesn't matter if they tell us lies, half truth, three-quarter truth, mostly truth, or whatever. I am extremely skeptical of their analysis based on their track records stemming from their extreme biases. That's my position on this matter.
I would love to hear your analysis of climate/global warming data. I think it would be interesting and is very relevant to your channel.
Yes, please do! This January was the hottest on that chart and looked nearly half a degree warmer than 2023.
My neighbor lost their hose by the sea a year or so back. Up until then they denied that it could happen. I always say. Let's get us some snow pack! We need it here in the PNW
Yep, lets do the ocean temps. Good topic with data

I have my Dad's polaroids of the icicles and snow on our house in Tumwater from winter of 69! It was great! ❄☃
Snow on the ground for the entire month of January in 1969. As a 11 year old in Bremerton, I remember sledding a lot that winter.
That Winter of '68-'69 was a great time to be an eight-year-old in North Seattle/Wedgwood; '65-'66 was pretty fun too, what I remember of it.
34 inches on the yard stick in our back yard that winter. We were sledding for days.
I was about the same age in '68-'69 in Spokane. Remember it well. Snow piles from a next door parking lot was suitable for sledding down. Lot's a fun for a kid, probably not as much for my parents.
2008 winter was like that for me! I was 9 and it was so much fun!

Guess we should get a full pallet of pressed logs to keep on hand for the cooler times this winter. We love the snow in the mountains, bring it on.

What will happen to Vancouver Island this winter ?
Thank you

I'm hoping for at least 10 inches of snow for Tacoma
Thats the goal!
Old Farmers Almanac says pretty much the same thing. Colder than normal PNW normal for the West.
Looking forward to your scientific presentation of what the experts are saying about global warming. Will it accentuate the RASP waves, prolong El Nino, make El Nino more frequent, change ocean winds/currents? Timeframe probabilities - what happens when we get to carbon-neutral emissions?
What happens when La Niña starts in the summer? What does the weather look like in California?
Going out of a limb here, but it'd be really interesting to hear your opinion on what a functional AMOC shutdown would do to the climate and weather in the PNW and West Coast of North America in general.
Mossbacks rejoice! 😁
yeah!
🥳
My dad was at school in 1950 when we had the big snow storm thay had he go home before it got to bad
That was our coldest winter on record in the NW.
I know @@jaymontgomery3330
@jaymo2ntgomery3330 1968 1969 had snow totals close to 1950
I love weather models....95% of maybe happening!
I'm interested in climate change, so I'm looking forward to your video. Do you do forecasts for the Spokane region? I'm curious about what kind of winter we will likely have here.
Yes I do!
assorted plots showed a pitiful cold pool this morning :(
I wanna hear about their findings.
After the last la Nina where everything went south to Cali, I wouldn't mind a neutral and take are chances with that.
+1 on the climate change data.
I look forward to the global warming video since it will be based in data and science.
I wonder if nasa ever looked into the Julian Oscillation On other planets. Curious about their findings

😊
Please do show us the data! Let people filter it as they like - data won't change some beliefs.
Really good video explaining ENSO. Thanks!
And for what it’s worth, I say 👎 to a climate change video. I can turn on the TV for that.
You won't see this kind of report on TV, but I can't premise you'll like it either
Hey Google/TH-cam please stop putting climate banners on weather videos. Cool 😎 Thanks
The climate changes daily, weird…
@@sandslinger6720it says “long-term shifts in temperature and weather patterns”.
Curious, what is a climate banner?
Whenever someone brings up covid or climate TH-cam has link to Wikipedia to explain their take on the topic.@PacificNorthwestWeather
I only trust the media that is flagged by MSM. So, keep the banner?

We keep hearing how man is changing the climate but isn't it more like how man is manipulating the weather?
Yikes! Not loving the new graphics
Why is that?
In 1985 thay said less than 1 inch of snow but it never ended that day the heavy snow was later in afternoon
The world has been around over a billion years the weather is always changing
