Just got 2 pair of 501 selvedge in Blast of Blue nonstretch on sale from$149. to $103. Made in China. I have to admit that although I try to avoid made in China products, Levi's was very serious about quality cost ratio. Im keeping these. THESE are beautifully crafted. Big surprise!

there are some selvedge models in premium line, also blows my mind i usually find the premiums at half the price of regular (or even less) idk if i have the best luck but kinda worries me because that could mean they're not selling all that well and could be a discounted line

Now they make selvedge Premium, but as for my exprience, Premium (100% cotton) really worth the extra. Each pair is unique, but some of my Premium compare to my original USA Cone Mills, 150th selvedge or even LVC. As you said, LVC sell a story. If you want to flex on top of the top quality, go Iron Heart.

The vast majority of my items are "regular" 501 STFs, 505s, 511s, 513s, shirts, and truckers. My 513s and three pairs of my 511s are nice jeans in khaki, gray, caraway, black, olive, and white but from the regular line. I have multiple pairs of most colors and rotate them and take good care of them. Being a county commissioner in a rural Colorado mountain community, it’s important to look good representing our citizens and culture, yet practicality is important. My black, tan, and perhaps my white truckers are Premium but they were bought on sale and that was just conicidence.

Love your video’s. Strangely I just purchased a pair of women’s original fit 501’s directly from Levi’s. And when I got them, they had selvedge along with the premium patch!!! I was pleasantly surprised since it wasn’t advertised anywhere as selvedge. Went back to buy the darker wash version and crossing fingers it comes with selvedge.
What I’d like to know is if the men’s 501 fit like the women’s? They always seem to have more selvedge selections for men.

    • @denindenim

The hips are wider in the womens 501s. Women should upsize 2 sizes for a mens (but try on if you can. Premium line has lots of inconsistencies).

I recently purchased a Levi's Type 1 Premium jacket that's made with hemp & cotton red selvedge. I ordered 2 but immediately felt bummed out when I received them because on the picture the red selvedge strip is exposed on the outside pocket but mine didn't have it 😔. On a brighter note I got both of them on sale for $180 & one of them has a big E tag & the other is blank.

Hi Den insightful video as always. I think that apart from the 501 STF the least quality items named Levi's should be the Premium line. Although enjoy some premium pairs, I think Levi's Made and Crafted collection is way better than Premium, details like selvedge fabric, chainstitched hem, more consistent sizing, some items being made with japanese selvedge (by Kaihara) or even Made In Japan entirely allows you to enjoy a 'like LVC'' experience with different cuts like 511, 512, 551Z, 501 '93. I'm very happy with all my M&C pairs. Sorry for the rant. 😂 👖

Got 2 pair of 501 premium sevedge made in China. I'm not a fan of Chinese made bs USA HOWEVER.....
STITCHING, FIT, quality of denim VERY obvious superior quality vs. STF 501's or any standard 501's. 501 STF in black made in Mexico much nicer than my 501 STF made in Egypt. As much as I suspected inferior Chinese quality, the $103. paid for these premium 501 selvedge in "blast of blue" is great value. Wish they could be priced like this but made elsewhere

There is Levis regular factory in croatia (Varteks factory). Conditions are ok but this factory is contracted by levis and it is a weird deal because they dont have numvered numbers always like usually they do. First i thought they are fake but there is licenced stores in Croatia that sell them as well all around the balkan. I belive they are marked as 177 or C01. Weird deal

Words don’t literally mean anything. Premium means modern basic. I’m glad it makes money for the company if they are still going to make the vintage line. I wear a premium pair for dirty home cleaning and they’ve lasted longer than regular Levi’s from 10-20 years ago.

Howdy! Love the content, the information you provide and your opinions are very much appreciated. I have some feedback though. I think you could ease up on the editing; your way of speaking doesn't necessitate a slide show, you make your points clear enough anyway. The ducking effect on the cheesy copyright free music is annoying, better if you choose a level for the music track and stick to it. Your vocals sound really good in this video, in some older videos I noticed some inconsistences but you seeem to have improved on it. I am a Swedish musician and I would like to offer to make some music tracks for you for free. I play mandolin and lapsteel in both a blues and a bluegrass band, and I love country (especially west coast, like western swing), old timey and americana rock and think I could really put together something fitting for you. How do we get in contact if you want to discuss it further?
