In the "Testimony" of Dmitri Shostakovich, the whole process how this anthem was composed and selected, is described. In the final phase, there was three compositions/composers left, one of them was Dmitri Shostakovich. The three final songs were presented to jury as anonymous (solo, choir, choir + orchestra), this might be the reason they didn´t choose Shostakovivch´s anthem but this.
