    My grandfather use to do this 60 years ago with aluminum foil, but I like your method better because you can see if it is rooting before you open it up.

      or your grandfather just should have used the air layering boxes from myfirsttree.com :D just joking it's actually amazing that he knew about this procedure 60 years ago in Asia they do that for centuries but this knowledge was not spread over the western world.

    Awesome! I tried some air-layering for the first time, and I was unsuccessful on all six! 😑 Gonna try again. I like the balls of squeezed soil, and the tightness with the packing tape. I also didn’t rough up the branch after stripping the bark away. Learning! Thanks!

    use aluminium foil to cover the layer instead of the plastic and tapes. the foil is easy to remove and keeps away the light. just a suggestion

    • @DVisionHD
      @DVisionHD  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for you suggestion but also one of the reason I use plastic and tape to put pressure on the soil that will push the soil to the air layer branch and also will result to drain extra water from the soil , if the soil is too wet the roots will get rotten,

    MY only diff. is using sphagnum, exposing cambium layer, wrap in plastic and use grafting tape=stretches and seals well. GRAFTING WAX WORKS TOO.

      thanks for your comment , i hinted to use putting soil because it easy available every where , also in my experience i have used sphagnum and soil i actually got better result with putting soil however sphagnum will work too, I did over 100 air layering in past 3 years and really with this simple component you can get very good result

    I am too excited to do an air layering cut from a pomegranate tree. If you do this on a branch that already has a growing fruit on it is there a chance of rooting??

    Thank you. Did it survive? That's a huge branch for that amount of roots it looks like to me. That would be very nice to have that size tree in just the few months it took to root. I did it with a Magnolia and with an apple tree but I chose too large of a branch and neither survived. This time I will not be so greedy and want a big tree too fast and I'll do smaller branches. Nice job thank you very much and thank you for showing the results. I can't stand it when there's a video with a title how to root __________ plant and at the end of the video the person says "I'll let you know if it worked in another video" and they never make a follow up.

      Yes it survived and also I have posted earlier other videos that shows even bigger tree i have air layered , and its a big tree now , you can check this link this was sweet lemon tree it was very big trunk about 7cm and very high about 3 meter high , after air layering is successfully done , i have planted it , this was about 3 years back , and its very big now , i may make full video maybe a short one from the beginning till now .
      just for air layering you should make sure it is done in right time and also the method should be done according to what i mentioned . wish you all best
