My granny had an African grey that hated her dogs. He would call the dogs and whistle them up to the back door, like it was time for dinner. When they excitedly ran to the screen door to get their food, he would laugh his head off at the dogs.
Also, after my granny died, the bird went to my aunt's house. I visited her while I was in my twenties. I hadn't seen the bird since I was eleven or twelve. When I went to the aviary, he saw me and called my name in my Granny's voice. He was crazy smart.

I cannot express how much I love birds man 🤧 I have 2 African greys, a sun conure, and 2 parakeets. You made this very dull quarantine morning very interesting 😁
Just a bit of info, Birds always want to climb to the highest point so in order to prevent them from walking up your arm to your head, when they step on your hand, drop your elbow to stop their ability to climb higher. I had birds for years.
Birds are such complex and amazing creatures! I have my own goofball of a bird who LOVES to shoulder rush and I have also found that dropping your elbow helps to deter that behavior! you mentioned that you have birds so I am very interested in your opinion on how humane Parrot Mountain is! Do you personally feel they get excellent care or do you feel that these birds are not receiving everything they need in terms of diet, physical care, mental/emotional care, and/or proper safety measures? Did you feel that the staff was well educated in bird care, and do you think there was enough staff to properly care for all the birds there? Apologies for all the questions, I am gathering information on Parrot Mountain to see if this is a place that I should support and visit! I do my best to be cautious and only support places that are humane and give the best care available! thank you!
So good to see you back out. Parrot mountain is one of our favorite places in pigeon Forge. This was so much fun to watch.

I don’t mean to put a damper but a bird really wouldn’t be a good match for him. Parrots are notorious for not only having terrible travel anxiety that can cause health problems, But also they can become extremely stressed from you being away from home for a long time. He would get caught in a lose lose situation. If you can get a sitter I recommend instead a reptile partner! A bearded dragon would be a much better exotic companion for him! Very chill, harder to stress out, and much lower maintenance, but are quite cuddly lizards. Also they can be put on leashes and go for walks!
That cockatiel that said "I love you" was the absolutely most cool thing I have ever seen!!¡!!That made my night hearing what you said about the beauty of a bird saying "I love you!"
This was really cute. I'm not sure who was the attraction with all the attention your hat & glasses got. Sure felt good to be out and about.

I wish I could have took my Grandma here. She loved birds. Her and my Grandpa had an African Gray parrot named Bill. He was an amazing bird. More like family than a pet for sure.

Aloha Jacob! I saw a Red Macaw at a Waikiki photo stand, & was talking to it. It perched on my hand, and in one second flat, that Macaw tore my Tahitian Black Pearl right out of the gold ring I had on, and proceeded to peel it in layers in its giant beak, as I watched shocked & horrified! That was a very expensive "bird petting" moment. 😳

Far too many roadside attractions have ill, neglected parrots... that said, whoever runs this has experience and love for the animals. The birds themselves seem pretty happy to do what they're doing, plus there's no signs of plucking or anything. From a passionate bird owner, this seems like a nice place I wouldn't have any qualms with supporting. (It also seems like they take in surrendered birds. With how many get tossed owner to owner, it seems like a pleasant forever home to end up in)
P.s.- all wicker within a 5 foot radius of a parrot is guaranteed to get shredded. you're lucky that hat got out intact!

They probably thought your hat was a toy haha. Birds tend to like things they can interact with and a hat with pins they can grab and pull off is perfect for them.

This has got to be one of my most favorite videos of all time, if not my favorite period! This will be watched more than once! We've seen the sign so many times on our way to Dollywood but never even thought of going. Well now it's on the list of new things to do next time we're in the area.
