38:13 So when hearing this argument a couple of verses from Romans Chapter 9 stick out. You must read the full chapter to truly get the full understanding because I believe it is well said in it. But this gives some context. Romans 9:21-23 (KJV) Hath not the potter power over the clay, of the same lump to make one vessel unto honour, and another unto dishonour? What if God, willing to shew his wrath, and to make his power known, endured with much longsuffering the vessels of wrath fitted to destruction: And that he might make known the riches of his glory on the vessels of mercy, which he had afore prepared unto glory,
Why do we forget. GOD warned us, if we disobey, we will surely DIE... Wasnt playing. He is allowing us to see how deep the reality goes. Our thinking, dreams, desires, aspirations, etc. are all dead(Not GOD led or Centered) which is acted out in a heart that doesn't want GOD'S will, So if you intentionally choose against GODliness, and GOD being the righteous Judge(know our heart and future) chooses to destroy people who HE knows will not turn to him and be willing to stop his will to not come to pass, it shouldn't be an issue...
I just commented this but always remember genesis 18:32; Then he said, “May the Lord not be angry, but let me speak just once more. What if only ten can be found there?” He answered, “For the sake of ten, I will not destroy it.” God is merciful, he doesn't sweep away the righteous with the wicked, but he is also just and I believe the canaanites got their justice.
Couple of questions for Ruslan and Alex at the 26min mark. First, who gets to decide what is Just or Unjust and on what basis? Second, you say it's very difficult to see Jesus just wiping a bunch of people out including children. Have you heard of Noah's Flood or ever read the Book of Revelation? Perhaps you have a different Jesus than the one the Bible tells about. I would also point out that Ruslan says there are multiple interpretation. I spose that's true but there is only ONE true and correct interpretation. The fall back on "there are many ways to look at this" undermines Scripture and the truth that one must wrestle with a text until they can get to the true meaning and then just accept it for what it is. Sometimes that may mean accepting what it says without coming to the point when it makes you comfortable. Knetchle inserts the unbiblical doctrine of "Age of Accountability" and Ruslan inserts the "accept Jesus into their heart". Neither of which is found in Scripture.
So, at one point, Alex says the Israelites get a prophet to warn them, and the kaninites get nothing. How do we know the kaninites weren't warned? That's an argument from silence he made. He concluded they didn't receive anything and judges God based on his faulty logic. I feel it's safe to assume God did warn them, and he probably was extremely generous with the amount of warning he gave them.
I think using the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah is a great introduction to the destruction of the canaanites. God says in Genesis 18:32: Then he said, “May the Lord not be angry, but let me speak just once more. What if only ten can be found there?” He answered, “For the sake of ten, I will not destroy it.” I dont see a difference in God using the israelites or his own power to destroy a city/nation. In fact I think using the israelites is a lesson to them, showing what he will do if they abandon him like the canaanites did. Also yeah, I don't think the canaanites got a prophet but an angel would be very likely similar to the angels who entered sodom in genesis 19. Wish more people brought up this comparison when the canaanites are brought up.
No human can ever stand before the judgement seat of God and ever win an argument with facts when He has all the facts. Warnings of impending judgement on the groups of peoples of the earth will always be given just like Nineveh. That story itself shows God intervention to warn a non-chosen people group. Therefore, no people group can ever stand before their Creator and win an argument.
Also, they got the Prophet and warning because if they didn't ALL man kind would have been lost... They only got it because God chose them as a vehicle to bring about Salvation.
