    I've had this lawn mower since the start of the season this year. So far so good. I love it. I have a small lawn. Definitely if your grass is thicker or damp then the batteries will drain a lot faster. But I have tons of the craftsman tools and I have a backup pair of 4.0Ah batteries ready to swap in if needed. In the height of the season when the grass was thick and if I waited too long to mow then I would expect to swap out to a second pair. Towards the end of the season now when the grass is starting to settle down I'll still have plenty of charge left to power the weed whacker on one of those original batteries. I wish the wheels didn't feel so cheap. Getting used to a plastic mower vs a metal lawn mower is jarring but you get used to it. I never worry about my mower not starting up or getting gas, storing gas, or smelling like gas. And the best part: It's so quiet. I can mow early in the morning and not even wake up my wife, nobody would know I was mowing if they didn't see me. Excellent.

      Batteries charge last longer if you bag rather than if you mulch. Seems like holding the grass in to be cut and recut works the motor harder so the run time is reduced.

    I love this mower for what it offers from the user experience side. The top handle can also be folded and secured to the size it was in the box for upright storage and the wheels are cheap but like any other mower they are wear items and on grass you shouldn't see to much wear. I upgraded to the 9ah battery and have cut my. 25 acre lot 4 times and it's still going strong at about 25 minutes of run each time. I also have the dual battery charger and additional batteries. Love cutting the grass without noise. Edited to add that any standard 7" wheel can be substituted for the plastic wheels of you want a heavier wheel and rubber combo. They can be found currently for < $20 a pair.

    I’ve owned mine for over a year. I use it for primarily trimming around my home. Your review is spot on. I have the Craftsman platform so having extra batteries wasn’t an issue. I’ve found the 6Amp batteries seem to last about 20 % longer than the 5 Amp. The 6Amp would get me close to the 50 minute suggested run time, this also depends on the length of the grass and if it’s wet. Also I sharpen my blade at the beginning of the year and it is cutting better than when new.

    thanks for the review. I have the Craftsman V20 system for hand tools, string trimmer, blower, skillsaw, sawzall, etc. and was thinking of getting the Craftsman gas powered engine that starts with the V20 battery. I'm not getting any younger and pulling a cord to start a mower is not my idea of fun anymore when a "one pull" start is a thing of the past. I already own a 6amp battery, so If I were to get another one to have, I could easily mow my own yard and my sisters as well. Yes, charging up my 6amp battery does take time, but I can weed eat, and blow my entire yard and still have 2 lights on the battery. Great review.

    Purchased this mower March 2021 along with a number of additional V20 electric items that has really made my yard maintenance experience top key. I am a 41-year-old woman in South Texas. Primarily, my yard is St. Augustine and I feed it with the Scott's plan bundle four times a year and keep the mowing heights at 5 because I like the puffiness of the yard and to keep it too low will stress your yard.
    The 5 amp batteries do have the charging legend on the opposite side of the battery so you can see where it stands if you leave it uncharged. My yard is 1,325 sq feet and it covers the front and back with extra battery to spare. If you leave your grass from a 4 to 5 height with fully charged batteries and a 1,300-foot yard you should be good. I wouldn't say the design is "goofy" but I will say the design is exceptional for the lawn mower to cut under areas without having to move the unit like patio tables. The plastic tires are a hard durable plastic so they've kept up really well. Thank you for posting this - I liked the detail and content and happy you recommended this product. The V20 series is a really good set of tools to get jobs done. Also, at select Lowe's - you can purchase the V20 lawnmower and get the V20 weedwacker free that can serve as an edger plus weedeater.

    I bought this mower because I was already in the craftsman v20 tools. I have a 1/2 acre lot and I have to use two sets of batteries to do my whole lawn. If my grass gets really high sometimes I will need to use a third set of batteries. The 4.0 batteries work great and the 2.0 batteries will even work in a pinch.
    Don’t use the knock off batteries though. I had a set of knock off 6.0 batteries and they had a shorter run time than the craftsman 4.0 batteries did, one of them also failed on me in less than a year.
    Has been a good mower for me! The only thing I don’t like is that the batteries are exposed… I wish they had a cover to keep the clippings from blowing into the battery tray.

I see that it has a plastic deck, does it at least have a metal... shield? shell? around the blade chamber? You forgot a lot of the pros. Such as low profile meaning you could get underneath stuff that other mowers with a Motorhead will not so less weed eating. Another pro is that they combo it with a blower or a weed eater a lot of times you need to look at the sales. Other pro is that if it senses too much resistance that it will shut the motor down without damaging the blade. Another pro is that you can run the 9 amp batteries on it and get over an hour of mowing. Another pro of it is that the polymer that it's made out of does not let grass stick to the underneath side very easily can be brushed or wiped away off of it by hand no water needed. And quite honestly the only con that I see about this mower is the safety mechanism on it sometimes does not spring out because the weak spring so people think it's broke but it's not. And one more con is that you and not get replacement blades that are from Craftsman cuz they are very thin. Although you can get other blades from off brand 20-in blade that will fit they will just be heavier and give you a little less run time.

    I like it except for the wheels They are the same quality as a child’s lawn vehicle. It’s difficult to maneuver if the grass is even a little bit wet. I own several Craftsman battery operated tools so that’s why I went with Craftsman. I wish I had spent the extra $100 and got the self-propelled. My first run times were only 30 minutes I believe because the grass was pretty high for the first cut. My riding mower that I’m not comfortable using has a flat tire and I had let the grass get too high. I’m hopeful that time will increase on the next cut.

    • @TheLawnReview
      @TheLawnReview ปีที่แล้ว

      I agree with you on the wheels. They are definitely cheap.
      You should hopefully get more run time once your grass is at a more maintainable level - were you bagging? Usually that slows you down some more with added weight.

    • @JerseyGirl50
      @JerseyGirl50 ปีที่แล้ว

      Good point about the bagger. I did use it because the grass was so tall. In the future I plan to mulch. My husband passed a year & a half ago & he did all the outside work so it’s all new to me. Mine came with a “free” leaf blower. It doesn’t have as much power as the Toro I have, but is so much lighter. I also have the weed trimmer. It’s lightweight, has a long run time & does a good job.
