Met Ox Baker at a house show in Warner Robins Ga. A crowd of us kids ran up to the ropes after Mr. WRESTLING #2 whooped him. He hops out of the ring, looks over at us and gave us all a mean growl. I was so scared (at 6yrs) I couldn't move, everybody else ran. He picked me up, took me to the back and introduced me to all the wrestlers. He then took me back to my dad and told him to keep this little monster under control. Then they laughed.

The first person I saw use the heart punch was Killer Kowalski. I also saw him being interviewed. There was a small table between the seats he and the interviewer were seated on. Killer was asked if wresting was fake... he got mad and raised his arm in the air and broke the table in half!

I've been binging on Jim Cornett the past two months. Before bed , when I wake up, pretty much whenever I'm not at work or driving. Which by the way, I need to make it to where I can listen to him in my vehicle instead of my rap music xD. Thank you guys so much for everything yall do. Y'all are so great at keeping me listing especially when I need to be sleeping & I've learned so much I didn't know about wrestling from y'all to where I look up some of the older guys y'all talk about. I'm 27 yo from Cullman Al, & my family always loved wrestling. I absolutely plan on buying some autographed items from you soon & thank y'all again. I've just seen a clip from October of 1983, Bobby Eaton started a riot in Memphis, he took Jimmy hearts briefcase and threw his money everywhere! Fans instantly stormed the ring, grandmothers, fathers, and small kids clambering into the ring to get some $$$. That was fucking great.

Cornette's wrong about this not being a match. I was at Elyria, OH about two weeks before the Cleveland card and they did the same match with the same finish(without the riot) that they did in Cleveland. Powers-Ladd was going around the circuit as the main event during the spring of 1974.

Doug spoke to me about that and told me the opposite story. he told me that Ernie was
encouraging him to keep punching him. Doug contents that he didn't want to because he
and Johnny Powers were scared as hell and wanted to get out of the ring alive but Ernie
was insisting so he kept hitting him until all hell broke loose. Lmao

What had happened was Ernie had returned to the NWF and was named "Wrestler of the Year". Powers took exception saying he had been there all year and deserved the award. Powers turned heel and Ladd became the babyface. Prior to that Ladd had turned babyface in a feud with NWF Champion Waldo Von Erich and defeated him for the title in Utica, NY. I was at that match which I believe was in June 1973. I was 12 and Big Ernie Ladd was my favorite wrestler. R.I.P. Big Cat.
