“If you have a mirror handy, or something you can see yourself in” Wild soprano living in the forest: better find myself a lake ..... Ps. I must say I nearly cried after doing this exercise. Because I have been struggling to produce a clear non-breathy sound on higher notes and this was instantly effective. I surprised myself with how clear a sound I made and how easy it was. Thank you so much for all your videos ❤️
BRILLIANT! I have done exercises before as in the last section, holding the knuckles under the throat, but the other 2 are new to me. Well I must be doing something. correct, because all felt good and at the same time I got to do a facial exercise which can't be bad! This is such a useful lesson so my gratitude again Jeff. I am doing some re-recordings because my voice has much, I mean MUCH, improved with your help. The highest notes in all songs which have those high notes, are second nature now, and have strengthened enormously. Onwards and upwards - the next lesson is calling! Kindest regards.
I still have some raspiness in my voice around the segundo passagio, however these exercises allow me to hit the higher notes with greater ease! Thank you
Of course you made a video on this topic! So amazing. Do you have any advice for vocal stage fright? I find my voice box sometimes freezes up when I’m auditioning. It’s so frustrating! I sound good at home and then when I’m in the room my voice and breathing feel paralyzed.
I've talked about stage fright or performance anxiety from time to time on the channel. Here are a few resources: th-cam.com/video/yrSg3YOwYcE/w-d-xo.html th-cam.com/video/n5hyPEjtv1Y/w-d-xo.html Jeff
Thank you for watching! If it's the primo passaggio that is getting you down, have a look at this: th-cam.com/video/MC2efq5wG-8/w-d-xo.html Thank you! Jeff
Hi Jeff! I'm a super fan of your videos. All so helpful. Best warms ups out there. When I get to about minute 8 of this warm up, and you explain how to touch over the esophagus at the root of the tongue.... I don't feel a bounce, but i do feel a tensing . Before singing, it is quite pliant, and stays that way even when singing in the middle of the range. When I start the exercise at the note you start us at , I feel a tensing of the root of the tongue that like area is engaged. What is a tactic to employ to keep that from happening? I know we should keep it from bouncing/tensing, but how?
Hello! Thanks for watching and thanks for a great question. In order to get control of the tongue root, we have to recognize it (which you've done here!) and learn to release those muscles. One great way to work on it is in this video: th-cam.com/video/sJ1AMqJQnnw/w-d-xo.html Once you can keep it released while holding your tongue, try just laying it on your lower lip and then sing as normal but check it with your knuckle under your chin near the top of the esophagus. I hope that helps! Jeff
Yes, there are several warm downs on the channel: th-cam.com/play/PL2mQP7sE6PHibzXDW8Rfk0HniIlggiL-3.html I only added one of the videos to the above playlist, but there are more I'll put in there. Best! Jeff
So if I am using my tongue muscles too much how do I stop? I don’t feel like I have any control over it one way or the other, it just happens

Wow! That was intense. I think this means I need to do more such exercises
This is so difficult but I think I actually got it working right. Now to put this into my songs!

How did u know I needed this :)
Thanks!
You’re welcome! Thank you so much for the Super Thanks support!
Jeff
I liked the first two, but on the last one it's a very slight vibration rather than in the movement in the demonstration so it's hard to see.
Jeff, do you have any videos with cool down exercises?
Yes, there are several warm downs on the channel:
