I get my pension from the US’and I live in Spain. It is also adjusted for inflation. Also, a lot of french people lives in Spain ,and they get their pensions se same as if they were in France.

They do get their pension but what they do not get are the supplementary benefits linked to their low pensions which is there to enable them to live « decently » in France. If you contribute fully to the French pension scheme you get it back and can live wherever you want. These people either did not pay into the scheme or paid too little. A case of making your bed…or wanting your cake. Having said this these people will never be at home either in France or Algeria. They are exiles and strangers for the rest of their lives. Sad but the true condition of all migrants. You belong nowhere after a while.

@@laurentlambert6347 yes same in UK. It is the extra additional payments for example in respect of rent for poorer pensioners that are paid to UK landlords. it is not possible to do that for Algerian property, or Spanish or any other country for obvious reasons

The treaties and laws make no sense in a mobile society where people study, live and work abroad very often due to necessity. Algeria and France need a treaty which respects the lives and the labor that these people provided the nation.

Also, many countries in the world have this rule, effectively forcing people to spend most of their pension in the country to avoid the national money being spent outside.
No Millenial or Gen Z will ever have a pension like this. I wish the biggest fear about my retirement would be that I had to live in the South of France

Their healthcare and pensions are tied to France, and to get it, you have to prove residency for more than half a a year at least each year in France since Sarkozy (2008).
