I'm actually going to fulfill one of my bucket list items by being in Salem this Halloween. Didn't mean to be random I was just reading people's comments and seen your comment on bucket list.
Thank you, Derek, for the Salem videos, which have a little bit of something for everyone - my husband loves the pubs, I love the history, our puppy friends love your pup, and we all love the costumed street performers and revelers. So nice to have when you’re housebound with illness. Couple things: Hawthorne’s ancestor wasn’t a ‘witch;’ he was one of the judges that sentenced the accused to hang. Also, the cemetery wasn’t where ‘witches’ were buried; the crimes of which they were accused put them outside the communion of the town’s ‘saints,’ which were those regular church attending/supporting folk (and to be clear, there were no actual witches - just people marginalized with smear campaigns to (1) rid the town of ‘undesirables’ and (2) diminish the influence in society of those propertied people who didn’t support the church authority for, in many cases, the usurpation of that property). Also, two dogs were hanged (I like to leave raw hide bones at the memorial when I go for them). The witches bodies’ were thrown down the gorge under Gallows Hill to rot as burial was forbidden (though Rebecca Nurse’s sons did, under cover of darkness, retrieve hers and bury it on her farm in Salem Village, now known as Danvers). I was in Salem on Columbus Day and it was fantastic. The only problem is that they now restrict much of the parking. In years past, you could park in the neighborhoods, but now you can't.

Id say the weekends prior to Halloween are more kid friendly than actual Halloween Night.. There are tons and tons of adults out in costume and beer venders and music stages everywhere on Halloween night.. I don't have kids, but if I wanted them to experience Halloween in Salem Id start them off on visiting on Oct 26-28... There is trick or treating going on in the downtown area.. I actually think it’s a shame that this town has turned into a place where witches flock. People have turned this into an actual witch center when it was such a tragedy that happened to those innocent people
When I visited in 1985, the town really worked hard to get the point across that they never believe any of those charged in witchcraft were witches. As you put, it was a tragedy. It got out of control like mob violence.
Celia Gorleski yeah and I think it’s a shame it’s “celebrated “ there. I think the museums are important for historical purposes but the fact that there are shops and people are selling witch stuff. it’s just a slap in those peoples faces.

Derek when i lived in salem every halloween i stayed the night in the Burying Point Cema , i had my own little hideing sleeping spot. Was hopeing to meetup the some 1692 witches and one time i came up almost meeting one. I always had fun.

The art structure yoga was done in is acoustic to amplify sounds of nature. Also in same area all the trees were donated from China. All trees are native to China. Trees were a gift from China because of trade between Salem and China.

Behind the werewolf in the tavern, hanging on the wall is a wooden sign that says “White Horse”with a white horse. That same EXACT sign is hanging in my house. We actually named our house after it. The White Horse Manor. My ancestor was born in Salem 11yrs before the start of the witch trials. It’s my DREAM to get to Salem,
Anthony DeMaria Depends on what kind of food you are looking for.. I hate seafood but there are terrific seafood places everywhere.. I tend to eat at Rockafellas.. Flying Saucer Pizza Company is great for pizza.. If you have time take a Trolly tour.. You can hop on and off at all stops to take pics and eat.. They give you lots of Salem historic info.. Maybe go a haunted walking tour.. I have no plans when I go.. I just walk around..
Reds sandwich shop is a great diner. Red line is like Panera but much better and some of the best breakfast is the ugly mug. All are great breakfast places but ugly mug takes the cake.

Unfortunately you can’t take photos or videos.. But you stand in the middle of a room and Universal you are statues and scenes telling the story of the witch trials.. There is a voice soundtrack playing telling the story as a light shines on scene to scene.. It’s about 30min long.. It’s ok to do once..
It does look SUPER creepy! Yikes!! Unfortunately it wasn’t out last week when I was back in Salem.. Hopefully it’s still around and wasn’t stolen vandalized or something.. Thanks for watching my channel.. Stay safe🎃

Honestly I have have a few residents of Salem tell me that tourist screw up their driving commutes, walk around drunk, cause long lines at local restaurants and businesses and they want them to go away.. I apologize if I lumped you into that catagory.. I’ve honestly covered Salem a ton and I’m almost feel like I’m watering it down that’s why I was thinking about staying away after this year..

HP1 is definitely better than HP2.. HP has grown on me. I watched it in the background twice this season so far while doing other stuff.

I have a weird obsession with witches and Halloween because of Hocus Pocus and the Salem Witch Trials.
The art structure yoga was done in is acoustic to amplify sounds of nature. Also in same area all the trees were donated from China. All trees are native to China. Trees were a gift from China because of trade between Salem and China.
Especially the last.part where everyone is dressed up and there's food.

Behind the werewolf in the tavern, hanging on the wall is a wooden sign that says “White Horse”with a white horse. That same EXACT sign is hanging in my house. We actually named our house after it. The White Horse Manor.
My ancestor was born in Salem 11yrs before the start of the witch trials. It’s my DREAM to get to Salem,

Where are the best places and restaurants to visit in Salem?
Anthony DeMaria Depends on what kind of food you are looking for.. I hate seafood but there are terrific seafood places everywhere.. I tend to eat at Rockafellas.. Flying Saucer Pizza Company is great for pizza.. If you have time take a Trolly tour.. You can hop on and off at all stops to take pics and eat.. They give you lots of Salem historic info.. Maybe go a haunted walking tour.. I have no plans when I go.. I just walk around..

Reds sandwich shop is a great diner. Red line is like Panera but much better and some of the best breakfast is the ugly mug. All are great breakfast places but ugly mug takes the cake.

I'd like to see inside the salem witch museum.
Unfortunately you can’t take photos or videos.. But you stand in the middle of a room and Universal you are statues and scenes telling the story of the witch trials.. There is a voice soundtrack playing telling the story as a light shines on scene to scene.. It’s about 30min long.. It’s ok to do once..

Honestly I have have a few residents of Salem tell me that tourist screw up their driving commutes, walk around drunk, cause long lines at local restaurants and businesses and they want them to go away.. I apologize if I lumped you into that catagory.. I’ve honestly covered Salem a ton and I’m almost feel like I’m watering it down that’s why I was thinking about staying away after this year..
