I its not local, rather it is a product of cooperation with Russian Almaz-Antey company. The system is based on some components of C-300\400 system. Also, it is intersting to note that Russians on their side have almost an identical system that has been as C-350 Vityaz. Any way, good for Korean airspace, now it will be safer.

How did that happen?! Russia working with North Korea makes sense, but with South Korea it must of happened pre 2005. I must’ve happened in a quick window of history or one stole the technology from the other but isn’t mad enough about it to bring it up. I’d say it was the Russians stealing Korean tech because the S-350 system looks completely different from the S-300 and S-400

@@ABSiddekAnik 천궁1은 러시아의 s-300/350의 일부 로켓 기술을 받아서 만들었음. 하지만 외형이나 유도방식은 미국의 패트리엇의 기동 방식과 더 유사함. s-400같은 경우 카나드와 꼬리날개로 비행궤적을 바꿔 요격하는 방식이지만 천궁은 몸체 측면에 여러개의 소형로켓이 장착되어 있어 추진체가 분사되며 방향전환을 함. s-400과는 사용하는 레이더 주파수도 다름.
최근엔 천궁1의 개량형 천궁2가 배치되고 있음. 사거리와 요격고도를 증가시켰고 가속력과 반응성을 높여 탄도미사일 요격기능을 부여함. 표적과 직접충돌(hit-to-kill)하는 방식으로 미국의 최신 PAC-3 ERINT 와 비슷한 성능으로 개선됨. 나온지 얼마 안됐지만 이미 중동 몇나라에 수출이 확정되었고 추가로 수출문의가 들어오는중.
