    While I greatly enjoyed my time with the harder difficulties, I completely understand not being interested. I feel like with the way the game is structured, it makes it clear that by beating the game normally, you've already "Completed it" you don't need to keep going if you don't think the harder difficulties are for you, especially if you already have tons of games you want to try in the backlog. Maybe one day you might go back, or maybe not, but either way you don't need to do it right now.

    1:50 i see it differently. In roughlike games you getting more skilled at the game is the goal. Not getting more abilities and weapons. You instantly see how enemies who used to be hard to beat are now easy. Not because you got better abilities and are stronger now but because you're simply more skilled than before.

    • @restoreleader
      @restoreleader 6 วันที่ผ่านมา

      This is probably the definition of causal gamer, getting thru the game on easy and never experiencing the great feeling of being truly skilled. Such shallow experience would never satisfy me - yet i cannot imagine enjoyment of this style in something other than story games. I was always expecting the time is the problem, it never occurred to me, that there are people who will enjoy the game and yet willingly not try to get better in it, very strange idea. No need to shame it ofc, its probably main mode for most of the world :D

    The question at the start, yes there is 1 game and only 1 game that I tried and disliked only to come back to it about a year later and loved it to the point I put 500 hours into it. That was Divinity original sin 2. Due to loving that game so much I expected to like BG3 but after finishing the first act I just could not get into it and its a shame because its 1 of 2 games that I thought I would love only to realize I am not enjoying them even slightly, the second one being rimworld. I have gotten 3 boss cells in dead cells and I only played it again recently due to an update but ya, after the first one I also don't see much point in going on, it gets harder but no real reward for it, I have nearly 200 hours on it and I would say for at least 100 of them nothing much has changed.

    The thing is, boss cells aren't "added difficulties". They're a part of the main game since not they only add new areas and equipment, they're also relevant to lore and game events. You didn't beat the base game, you just finished a run. I recommend you keep playing but just so you know, boss cells are extremely hard and keep getting harder the more you get. They'll take a LOT of your time so if you don't like the grind and loop of "die, start again, die, start again, die, start again, etc..." then i wouldn't recommend you keep playing

    • @WyvrnOnYT
      @WyvrnOnYT  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I'm satisfied with what I completed for now. The credits rolled and that's all I need to know to know I beat it. The lore doesn't matter to me at all and new areas aren't worth grinding for hours and hours. I'll just move on to other games and leave Dead Cells with a positive impression.

    • @Eastonfection
      @Eastonfection 16 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@WyvrnOnYTbut you didn’t beat it. You have to understand that credits rolling in a roguelike does not mean you beat the game. Most roguelikes don’t even truly begin UNTIL you’ve completed your first run. Binding of Isaac, for example would only have you beat a few bosses initially while rolling the credits and you’d be missing 100% more of the game. This genre is designed to get more and more complex as you play. They’d be far too difficult and complicated if they just opened up at full potential on run one. The fun is mastering the game, or thinking you have, and realizing the game has only JUST opened up to you.
      Dead Cells IMO isn’t even dead cells until 3+ Boss Cells. It’s just a tutorial until then

    I've been a rogue-like connoisseur since Northernlion started playing the original Binding of Isaac. The list of amazing games in the genre keeps getting bigger. If you like poker checkout Balatro. If you want great dialogue, art, music, and combat play Hades. If you want bullet hell, guns, and cheeky humor, then play Enter The Gungeon. If you want to launch nukes and fly massive methane fueled airships, try HighFleet. If you want to destroy the Rebel scum, buy FTL: Faster Than Light.
    Some other good ones:
    Risk of Rain 1 & 2. Both fantastic games
    Darkest Dungeon
    Caveblazers
    Streets of Rogue
    Rogue Legacy
    Paranautical Activity
    Crawl

    I play on keyboard only, you don't really need the mouse at all, the attack and roll buttons can be binded to your left letters (QWE on QWERTY) and your movement and jump to arrow keys, that's it, it's more fun that way, I came back to the game after more than a year and I still managed to get the first boss cell and sadly lost to the Hand of the King tk get the second consecutively in my first run.

    I had a very similar experience only I was playing with a Pro controller on the Switch from the getgo. I'm getting older and my reflexes and dexterity aren't what they once were so the quick reactions and platforming was beginning to become troublesome for me. I also never really got into Roguelikes so I didn't enjoy that aspect either. I generally have a very limited amount of time to play games each week (usually an hour or so per day) so I decided to sink that time into games I could make more progress on like Breath of the Wild or Ghost of Tsushima. I left Dead Cells, Hollow Knight, and Metroid Dread on the shelf because they were "too hard". I have recently gone back to Metroid and DC and have found much greater success. I'm not sure why. I found myself really enjoying Dead Cells and have beaten 0BC and gotten close a couple of times on 1BC. I still haven't unlocked everything so that sorta drives me right now!

    Bro plays the boss cells its so much worth it...when u get to higher boss cells it will make 0bc feel like nothing...also some weapons skills and mutations are locked behind bcs as well as some locations and the difficulty increase makes it a more fun experience with different enemies and such...i love dead cells to death

    Interestingly, the stuff you like least about "roguelikes" - the long meta-grind - is something that‘s not part of any real roguelike (aka "game like Rogue"). True roguelikes are by far my favorite games, and in them your very first run gives you exactly the same chances, mechanics and items than the 300th run. And the only factor that makes you reach futther and further, is your growing skill and knowledge.
    Sadly, every game calls itself roguelike today for marketing purposes, so the word doesn‘t mean anything anymore.

    I wouldn't say ps5 is bad. I swapped to PC a long time ago so I don't play my ps5 but my wife does. Anyway, I LOVE Castlevania and there has been a wave of Castlevania DLC in several games. I didn't care for vampire survivors the first time I played but the Castlevania DLC made me love the game. This game seems interesting. Rogue like games are some of my favorite games. Story games have a definitive end where Rogue likes can just keep challenging you with your play style ever changing depending on the items you use. If you play games you should never view it as a waste of time because that mentality will remove a lot of fun from games. Look at monster hunter. The games can be fun depending on which one you play but they are grindy and rewarding. But, repetition is the core of the game which turns off people. Story games are great if you like the story, genre, and atmosphere but usually has low replayability.

    This was pretty much my Dead Cells experience, except in one gaming "phase" or whatever. When I first started playing this game, I was pretty into it, even beat it twice (without any of this newfangled DLC you young'uns are talking about), but the difficulty spike quickly pushed me away from the game.
    On the Boss Cells and difficulty: due to this game's rogue-like nature, going up in Boss Cells is more than just increasing difficulty, it's how you progress in the game. I got to BC3, and I still don't feel like I've "beat" this game yet. I don't completely hate the mechanic or it's repetitive nature, and I want to come back to this game, but I don't care enough about it to put in the time and effort needed to progress, which is the case with most games for me these days.
    On rogue-likes: I wouldn't consider myself a rogue-like fan or hater, but a few to consider are Faster Than Light (or FTL for short, this game is basically Star Trek's "Divert all power from the engines to the shields!" the video game, and it's fantastic), Everspace (3D zero-G space shooter, just about every run contributes to your long-term progress), Prey's DLC Mooncrash (goes from frustratingly hard to laughably easy once you figure it out, but still very satisfying), and an honorable mention, Sunless Sea, which isn't for everyone, but is another game that can seem annoyingly difficult until you figure out how to cheese the system.

    See the beauty of good roguelikes it that every run in different. sure the levels look similar but their placement, the loot inside everything is different. Thus every run is unique is a different. it's not about what do i get from it rather it's about can i beat this like this or maybe i should use this strat. It's all about skill and strat. To me that's what deadcells mean

    You really think you have beaten DEAD CELLS....? Let me tell you something, You didn't even complete 20% of the game..... And the one's you are calling final boss, they aren't..... You have to have 5 boss cells to even have access to go to the final boss.....
    You are complaining playing it on PC, And I am playing it on mobile bro.....

  • @devilblackdeath
    @devilblackdeath 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

    You do realize there's an absolute ton of console games that actually won't work out of the box. Meaning if you "uninstall" the data/updates, the game becomes unplayable, meaning the day the console no longer gets access to online data you're still not your game's owner. Meanwhile on PC you can always copy the game data and use some kind of crack if the DRM ever loses access to what it needs or stuff like that (say Steam for example). While I don't hate consoles either, actually owning your game data is not really a valid argument anymore in favor of consoles (unless you 100% exclusively play indie games with a physical release that actually contains playable-as-is data on the disc, so needless to say a very slim fraction of the games available).

    • @WyvrnOnYT
      @WyvrnOnYT  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      You're right, and this needs to stop in the industry. It's a threat to game ownership and undermines the preservation capabilities of owning physical media. It's a huge problem, yet it's not the case with all physical games so it won't stop me from choosing them over digital. Nintendo is a lot better about it from what I understand and I try to not buy games from huge triple A third parties like Ubisoft because they are the front runners in destroying game ownership.

    • @devilblackdeath
      @devilblackdeath 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@WyvrnOnYT Yeah but that's the thing about PC. You still own your data physically no matter what (game streaming set aside obviously). On console, if you mod it, to an extent you can still own your data but it takes a lot of effort. On PC, there's nothing anyone can ever do to stop you from owning your data. And as long as a crack exists for the game (aside from a couple Denuvo games every games are cracked) you'll always have access to it and can keep double copies (or set up a RAID HDD for safety) and have your games physically.
      But yeah it's definitely a huge issue. Thank god people are making isos and patch files out of those things. People tend to forget that yeah it's a way to illegally access those game, but it's also the best way of making archives of those.
      Yeah afaik there's no Switch game that is not playable out of the box. You may get a buggy mess that requires a day-one patch but at least you get a playable product as it stands on the cartridge. Ubisoft is indeed awful about it, and I'm not sure how much trust can be given to Microsoft and Activision. Blizzard is also scandalously bad about it. They managed to make a basically uncrackable (not exactly, but not worth the effort to any crackers) system that requires an internet connection at all times. That's one of the rare cases where, while you do always own your data on PC, it's pretty much unusable without a proprietary software that's reliant on internet connection and access to servers that could be shutdown in years or decades from now. That kind of practices absolutely suck.
