But we don't see that in the official movie because it was CUT ?.....Well that puts a very different slant on things...It means that Bigalow was signing his own death warrant TWICE....Not just by deciding to disconnect the phone lines on 65 but also by influencing Duncan to go ahead with the Party which involved the lighting of the whole building which caused the overload making fires break out on 81 and 65 (where he would be)

And for the longest time easy access to it was also paywalled by someone (the guy who owned the site shown on the still at the start) who in all probability didn't have the rights to do that. Glad this made it out publicly.

Had Bigelow survived and after the fire Duncan was asked why the party was permitted to happen despite the known electrical problems in the building, he would’ve shifted blame on Bigelow and said that he actually considered postponing the party but was pressured by Bigelow
Of course Bigelow if he survived could have argued he was just doing his job (he was the head of public relations for Duncan Enterprises) by convincing Duncan the show must go on - but you are right at the end of the day Duncan would have argued that a significant amount of culpability would have fallen on Bigelow's shoulders. At the same time Duncan would have gotten his lawyers to file an immediate Chapter 11 (since he and his company would have been subject to numerous lawsuits after the fire which likely would have put him out of business).
I'll have to disagree and say that this scene was rightfully deleted. This scene puts part, if not most of the blame on Bigelow and kinda takes Duncan off the hook. Roger was seen as the central villain, but Duncan was just as much to blame as he was. Remember the "are you drunk" scene with Duncan and Roger? Roger asked him "you didn't talk like this two years ago running over budget, running out of money. Am I the only subcontractor you asked to cut cost? Where did you save the other $400 million in Doug's original budget?" That's why that scene was deleted. You can't partially take Duncan off the hook.
Loved this flick Saturday matinee classic 1974 OJ was a superstar just. Rushed for 2000 yards (14 game season) AND was appearing all over the TV landscape. The Brady kid made it easy to identify and Steve McQ was cool. Newman was like the cool Uncle with the super hot Wife. That AmFm Headset was AWESOME! Radio Shack had a battery of the month club and all the cool electronic stuff. Irwin's shining moment. His career went into the crapper after this. But then JAWS changed everything. Then Star Wars. Big cast movies went to TV and are rare these days.
I taped this expanded version on 'K.C.O.P 13'' on October 30th, 1997. I still have it today. I hope that next year when they record this film in ''4-K ULTRA'' a.k.a SUPER HIGH DEFINITION blu-ray, they put BOTH versions on there.

Many people think that the scene of Bigelow's death is the most dramatic scene of the movie. If they had not cut this scene it would have greatly harmed the impact of the scene of his death.
So there was a lot more to Bigelow's character than just the affair he had with Lorrie, even though we don't see who they cheated on. Important plot scene, but I think leaving this cut scene in would have made his character less likeable, because we see he persuaded Duncan not to cancel the party despite knowing about the fire and faulty wiring.
I just checked again: Only the first bit is there. The discussion in close ups (from 0:55 in this clip) are NOT. Unless your blu ray is an new updated version? Then I'd like to know more about it.

This is my (oversensitive) take: I love the film, but it would still be great if Jim Duncan HAD insisted on calling off the party. The place was already on fire, there were people ensconced in apartments and offices, and plenty of drama would've ensued. Some of the truly dreadful tragedies, like Mrs Mueller's fall, would've been avoided. Roger Simmons could've still been polished off. Will Giddings could've been a hero who survived. Senator Parker would've been impressed at Dunc's integrity. They could've got pissed on that 1922 champers on the ground floor and played chicken with falling debris.😂
the thing is when Bigelow ordered the entire building to be lit up for the dedication ceremony, that's when all the other fires started, interesting that only the top half of the building caught fire, my take is when Simmons yelled at Duncan telling him he wasn't acting like this 2 years ago, running over budget, the building was probably up to around the 65th floor during construction when the contractors started to get cheap.
Does anyone else see the irony that both wives names start with "N." Are there anymore possible 'alleged' killers in this movie?.... As a side note, this is literally my all time favorite movie and it was released before my parents were adults. Are there any other fans of the movie significantly younger than the movie?

They don’t mention that the cable for the additional scenic elevators was held up so they didn’t have enough.
