You can try keeping 3 car lengths distance but it may only work in the country. In the city, someone will for sure cut in on the space. Keep to the right lane when not passing.

Never change lanes if you are blinded by the idiot behind you. They may try to hit you though even if you are in a hurry but they are in a bigger hurry. I've been brake checked and cannot figure out any other way to get out of the situation. Some people are evil

If you want to go the speed limit or less you should not be in the left lane to begin with, this lane is a passing lane. It is very frustrating and irritating when people drive in this lane and it screws up traffic flow, it also causes frustration which you could've avoided. If you want to be safe/slow then please do it in the proper lane which is the middle or right lanes. It is also unsafe to pass someone from the right so if you are in the passing lane forcing them to pass on the right you are creating a dangerous situation. So please use the lanes properly and remember the left lane is a fast/passing lane. Remember the law, keep right pass left.

    • @dk-uj4yd

@@PSYCHOBEVO two wrongs dont make a right but the way to avoid the entire situation is for the original law violator/unsafe driver causing the problem is to drive properly in the lane they should be in. there is no reason why someone should be driving in the left/passing lane at or below the speed limit unless they are passing an even slower driver. i myself who usually drives above the limit try to stay out of the lane when i can and certainly when i see a car approaching from behind me driving faster move over so they can pass me. there is no excuse for being in that lane causing emotions to run high and causing the traffic flow to be messed up. and the universal way of asking someone to move out of the lane is to briefly flash your high beams, its amazing how when you do this people still sit in that lane. share the road and drive properly!

Driving at the speed limit in the left lane = annoying at worst, but not breaking the law

@@PSYCHOBEVO it actually is breaking the law, "keep right pass left" is the law. you can get a ticket for driving to slow/ impeding traffic. In any event you need to use common sense when on the road and be in the proper lane and not cause unsafe situations.

disagree because the faster the traffic the greater the distance for the same 3 seconds. The time need not increase with the speed . the same 3 seconds will.work at any speed

Yes at higher speed distance will be more for same 3 sec, but still as a human point of view higher speeds would require higher reflexes, which not everyone would be comfortable with. Like if we increase speeds to 500 mph.. the distance would be too big.. but due to large distance our reflexes would work slow to recognise the danger, and also the high speed brake would cause higher drag.. so more seconds are required for higher speeds for human interface, if machines driving then 3 sec rule might work, but still depends on conditions

Yeah no. 3 car lengths at 70+ is not enough. The distance it takes to stop is relative to speed so using a hard set distance is inadequate at best.

Two car spaces at 6mph is a third of a second. That is nowhere near enough. It's just a matter of time before you crash, and you will be found at fault for the crash.
