The bridge is not submerged as the corps of engineers do a yearly draw down to make room for spring snow melt. Yes it has been drier than normal but the draw down is what allows the town of somerfield to reappear. We locals know that when the bridge appears the corp is expecting a lot of winter snow and will need the additional storage capacity for spring snow melt. Worked for the Corp of engineers at yough lake for years. The bridge appears every 10 to 15 years. It's beautiful to see it. My elementary teacher in the early 1970s was the last family moved out of the town. She hated the corp and the lake until the day she died. The older folks in the community held long grudges against the corp and the lake. Could never understand the taking if someone's land to help pittsburgh.

I've been meaning to go down and check it out but just haven't had time. Thanks for the video!

Let's move that historic bridge to Lake Havasu City, Az.
There are two suitable sites for it. It will be cherished and enjoyed for generations.
