I believe this is inspired by the stories of Kim Il-Sung during WW2, in which it is said that he did things such as placing pumpkin heads made to look like human heads at first glance to deceive the Japanese into thinking that the guerilla forces were moving at impossible speeds
Yeah, there's many "supernatural" things they used as propaganda which seemingly became a belief of the people, though there's some reports of DPRK news and Kim Jong-un releasing statements against these supernatural beliefs about his father and grandfather.
How the hell does that work though? Placing pumpkin heads that look like human heads to deceive the enemy into thinking you're moving at an impossible speed, how?
