      Well the center of Inertia for a rod 1/12mL^2 . Using the parallel axis theorem...you will end up getting 1/3mL^2. My professor only gives us the center of mass for Inertia so we are expected to derive a new formula for the moment of Inertia using the parallel axis theorem when there is a new axis of rotation.

    Is inertia half of mass times radius squared or just mass times radius squared?

    • @pasqualemleonejr.2287
      @pasqualemleonejr.2287 ปีที่แล้ว

      depends on what inertia youre calculating. The moment of inertia is different for a sphere than it is for a disc, etc.

  • @yoditolla760
    @yoditolla760 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    The moment of inertia of a rod is (1/12 mr^2) not (1/3mr^2) @ 6:15

    could you please help me with this problem? Two small 0.85-kg masses are attached to opposite ends of a very lightweight rigid rod 0.7 m long. The system is spinning in a horizontal plane around a vertical axis perpendicular to the rod located halfway between the masses. Each mass is moving in a circle of radius 0.35 m at a speed of 0.80 m/s. What is the total angular momentum of this system?
