    once grouped you can use the transform each to set a rotation point, how many copies, and what offset angle for each. Same diff in the end.

    By the way, nice job on your channel.....Would love to see more on the circuit.....I unfortunately don't have Adobe Illustrator but have Photoshop.....Can I do the things you do on Photoshop?

    • @DesignsByMissM
      @DesignsByMissM  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you! I'll definitely need to work some more Cricut tutorials in the mix. Is there anything specific you'd like to learn more about?
      Some of the tools are the same or work similarly in Photoshop, but Illustrator is designed to create vector based graphics whereas Photoshop is raster (pixels).

      Can I do what you did on Illustrator, on Photoshop? (you forgot to answer!:))

      Would love to see that design cut out on Cricut...Hey Mandee....maybe do a tutorial on something you create on Illustrator and how you would transfer the design onto Cricut and but....maybe for a card or to make a T-Shirt...would be awesome!!! Thanks...You explain things very well!! I think I just found my creative guru!!! lol!

    Thanks so much for the tutorial! It was the best one I have found so far using the symbol option. I am wanting to take the mandala and make it a cut file but I am having a hard time knowing what to do when I am done creating it. When I go to outline mode it just shows the lines of my paths. I don't know how to make it see the stroke weight as thicker so that it would be separate areas that would be cut for the shape and parts that would be weeded out. I am using CS4 so I don't know if that is the reason. Any suggestions?

    • @DesignsByMissM
      @DesignsByMissM  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      If you'd like to prepare your mandala to use as a cut file, here is one way you can do it: (1) Select all of your mandala "symbols", (2) Go to your Symbol window and click "Break Link to Symbol", (3) With your separated sections still selected, go to Object>Path>Outline Stroke, (4) Select just your mandala pattern using the Magic Wand Tool, and go to Pathfinder>Unite/Add. Hope that makes sense and helps you prepare your beautiful mandala to cut. :)

    • @SmashingInkVinyl

      That worked perfectly! Thank you! I have a few other designs I have made that I am wanting to do the same thing with but they aren't working the same. It is basically another type of Mandala where I do a repeating design rotated and then the parts that overlap are cut out of the other parts using exclude. Once I go back and do steps 3 and 4 it doesn't do anything. I don't know if it is from the excluding step or something else. Thanks!

      @DesignsByMissM  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's hard to say without being able to see the design, but you'll need to do whatever you can to try and make the design into a single compound path in order for it to be ready to cut. This is usually done by using Pathfinder>Unite/Add (for objects that overlap) AND/OR Object>Compound Path>Make.

    Im trying to do this and have had issue after issue. When I ungroup, it is keeping 2 triangles together or one and a side of another

    How did you put this shape in layers. how you hide the back layer but when I am doing mine its not making different layers it is putting it all into one layer...

    • @DesignsByMissM
      @DesignsByMissM  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Megan! Are you in Adobe Illustrator? If so, you can add layers through the "Layers" panel. Otherwise, Illustrator automatically creates a new sub-layer for each object you create.

    First, what program are you in.
    Second, can this be done in gimp.

    • @DesignsByMissM
      @DesignsByMissM  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      All of my tutorials are based in Adobe Illustrator. I have never heard of Gimp, so I really can't speak to it's capabilities.

    Can you please help me mandee? I am trying to do this, but every time i do the divide it keeps multiple triangles together

    • @DesignsByMissM
      @DesignsByMissM  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Dannielle! Unfortunately, I'm not exactly sure what you mean. That sounds like what the program is suppose to do when you press divide. Then, if you'd like to separate the shapes you'll just need to select them and go to Object>Ungroup.

    • @HaleFamilyVlogs
      @HaleFamilyVlogs 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      In your video it separates all yours into separate triangle when you hit divide. Mine divides but puts multiple triangles together. I did this video and when I hit divide it only shows 4 sections and not all the different triangles

    I am doing this in inkscape and for some reason when I do the division it disappears...any suggestions on what can be causing this or is there a step I am missing.

    • @DesignsByMissM
      @DesignsByMissM  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Megan! I'm using Adobe Illustrator in this tutorial. I've never used Inkscape before, so I don't think I'll be much help in that department-sorry!

    • @meganbrown5522
      @meganbrown5522 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Oh its no problem I can still use sort of the same steps as you but I think it might be easier if I just download illustrator...lol
