Big Model Trains Cover The Floor Of This House

- I ran four tracks down the hallway of my house to show off four of my G-scale model trains. These are big model trains that are hugely bigger than the little HO scale trains that most model railroad people have. With four tracks in the hallway, there isn't any room for people to walk!
The trains head outside and take a loop around my side yard and then in to the garage, through the kitchen and the living room, and then back outside again.
You get a look at an Amtrak passenger train by MTH trains, a LGB brand replica of the White Pass & Yukon Route Railway, the Santa Fe Super Chief, and a steam train from Switzerland's Rhaetian railroad.
These model train videos are extremely expensive to make. What you see in this video cost in excess of $5000 and I'm sure my entire collection cost in excess of $15,000. Each one of the locomotives cost approximately $1000, each rail car about $200, and each foot of track about $7. If you enjoyed this video, please consider becoming a patron of this channel to help fund the addition of even more model train equipment for future videos. Even a commitment of just $1 per month will help, if enough viewers participate. For more information on becoming a patron, go to / jimzim

Hey I saw a video of Thomas and nextime can you get gorden please 🙏 😢😢😢😢🚂🚂
i love that you run multiple trains at a time

My cats would destroy all that in an afternoon.
Hey, Jim, just thought I'd tell you, but you know the third coach on the White Pass train? It should've been the second car. This is usually how the train would somewhat look:
Engine, Baggage, Baggage/Coach, Coach, Coach, Caboose. Just saying. Not being rude. Far from it. Otherwise, your channel brightens my day, & I want to thank you for that.
Good movie !! Choo choo 🚂🚃🚋🚃🚋🚃🚋
what Dcc system are you running?
I use the MRC Prodigy WiFi system.

Super race! BIG LIKE👍
Jim Zim, Why do you prefer G Scale? Or is it just the size makes it easier to see so you don;t accidentally step on them?
They look more impressive than the other scales of model trains, since they are so much larger. Also, they are more stable, since they weigh more. You can mount a GoPro on a G scale train, which you can't do with HO. And the sounds of the whistles, horns, and engine noises are much better sounding since the speaker on a G scale locomotive is larger than the tiny speaker on a HO locomotive.
My great grandson is train crazy 4 years old, he would move in with you
That's insane......mad props to you brother.
Amazing
Great job 👍 really like the video
❤❤❤ always be healthy brother 🙏🙏🥰🥰

*Great video. Thank you!*
Hay Jim, my boyfriend John from Chattanooga TN loves trains he could watch them all day long and John is building a Train Village he has his on Train it's small but John has one I have never seen his train because I live in Old Hickory TN. But I just shared one of your Train videos with my boyfriend and he is going to love. John doesn't have any Thomas Trains yet. Thanks for sharing this with us.
Sounds like fun! Thanks for taking the time to leave your comment!
Please do more Thomas crashes I love Thomas I’ve got Thomas toys downstairs
Mi faborito es el berde quon amarillo
Que escala son HO?
Im gonna like
This is so neat!! 👍👍👍✔
It's not the end of the large scale Thomas and Friends range just yet because they have a spiteful break van it's a piece of rolling stock it only appeared in one episode which was break van aka the debut of Donald and Douglas and no Donald and Douglas were not made into large scale anyway the brake van serves a same purpose as the caboose being put at the end of the train however why don't you couple it behind one of your Thomas trains Thomas Percy James Emily Toby doesn't matter but not Winston
This is what the hobby is all about… just having fun… as simple as that 👍🏻
can you in your next video, describe how you built your wooden platforms please . thanks ps cool video. like.
I like this video
Good job 👍
If i was still a kid, this would be my dream 🤩

Me encantaron los trenes

Yo e querido tener esos trenes
Jim another awesome video! Thanks for sharing. One question though. How long does it take you to design and set up the track layout? Really enjoy the train videos!
I start with some idea in my head of what the layout is going to be. In this case, it was for four trains to come out of the bedrooms at the same time and meet up in the hallway all in a row... and then for them to move to a mainline that loops around the side yard and through the house. I started setting it up after breakfast, and the set up of the track probably took about five hours. Some don't take that long to set up, but this one was complicated by the fact that I needed to come up with a way for two of the trains to hit the mainline directly from the hallway and the other two to get delayed so that they entered the mainline behind the first two. That took some trial and error to work out. Then there was several hours of testing and working the bugs out. It's never just an easy process of putting a train on the track and it runs! There are always complications where the track changes elevations going in and out of the house, or when trains reach switches and crossovers. It always takes time to get everything running smoothly. And this layout was especially time consuming to set up because it was the first time I had run the trains in the yard in several months. All the outdoor track had corroded from weather exposure and had to be cleaned up in order for the trains to be able to make proper electrical contact with the track. And the yard was somewhat of a mess and had to be made camera-ready! And then once everything was working properly, I had to get multiple shots of each train running on the layout... first from a GoPro on a gimbal so I could walk around with the camera as the train was running, and then later I mounted the GoPro on top of the train... and repeated that four times for the four different trains. I couldn't get it all done in one day, so it stretched in to a second day before I finally got all the shots I needed. I think I got the last shot I needed by around 9 AM on the second day, and within about two hours I had put all the trains away again! When I first started doing these videos I was leaving the trains set up throughout the house for two or three weeks at a time, but now it's down to two days!

Hey Jim my friend i love watching your water fountain i wanted that water fountain for christmas that looks like yours
Todos mas bien
Hello Jim did you get my question about the polar express train set? I wanted to know about the track width 1 3/4 wide is my track will it run on it?
I got to say my favorite train out of all is the White pass and Yukon Route. It is amazing how it is still around.
My son is nearly 3 and he loves watching your train videos. And, unlike some of the other things he watches, I find them very relaxing. You have a great collection.
Morning Jim. 8.40am here in London, UK and my 3 year old is happily watching your videos on repeat while playing with his own trains. He even asks for 'Jim Jim' videos now haha. Thanks for the fab train videos. We love them! :)
I went the blue train
Just love it! GREAT!
I sure it's been asked. What do you do at night to keep the critters out? I'm sure the wife won't let you keep the doors open all night.
All I have to do is remove a small section of track through the doorway and then I can close the doors.
❤🎉
HAHAHA IT HAS CRASHED IN LAST HAHAHAHAHA
I Love You video are you going to give more Thomas and Friends stuff for G scale Emily is one of my favorite trains from G scale
The steem train is my favorite train
And one of them honks the horn and blows the whistle
So nice videos
Jim zim where do I need to get those model trains with all the tracks?
I buy most of my trains from www.trainworld.com
WOW !!! Es una buena idea para que mi esposa me corra de la casa. Manos a la obra... 🤝
At the beginning: The masters of the trains, the fearless four, the unbeaten, they are!....toy trains.
DeseariA tener trenes a escala
Es electrico? O de pilas y de cuales son para darle esa potencia
These trains are powered from electricity that travels through the metal rails. And just to let you know... the model train equipment shown in this video cost somewhere in the neighborhood of $10,000 USD.
I had an idea, I would love to sea all the steam trains vs all the deisel trains. And if you have electric trains too then you could include them to
Beautiful models, well impressed !.
and the Santa fe too
I have no idea why I love these vids! I think its the size of the track is so inappropriate for the house!
Exactly! And I think people wonder how we can live in a house with train tracks all over the floor like that. What they don't realize is that those tracks are not there all the time. In the case of this video, I started putting the tracks out at about 7 AM on a Saturday and the were all cleaned up again by about 11 AM on Sunday. It was a bit inconvenient to have to tip toe around the tracks for that period of time, but it was do-able.
grr i Jay Hay
Why so many dislikes? This is clearly many years worth of collecting, and Jim Zim is not a young guy either. He's worked hard, bought his toys, and clearly enjoys them. My dad has a similar setup to you, Jim, but it's more permanent since he's been a widower now for more than a decade. He ended up giving me his older LGB analog stuff (a Stainz & a Mallet) - I enjoy them too!
Nonstop horns thats why
Jim Zimmerlin, Yes I do think the set up is real clever. But what dose your wife say about the lay out of your trains. I mean all over an around your home. But Hy it's up to the individual on there lay outs of there models. Real cool model rail way set up.
The trains don't stay set up like that (all over the house) for long... usually 2 or 3 days... and then the house gets back to normal. She understands that videos of the trains running through our house generate some significant ad revenue for the family, so she tolerates it for a few days at a time. It's typically at least 3 or 4 weeks of no trains before I set them up again. So, she only has to tolerate it for a little while.
Congrats to 18m views
lastima que no tengo para tanto tren
yo: si fuera el niño de esa casa agarraria los trenes y me fuera a mi cuarto
Hello Jim. How do you power up such huge number of trains on your railway network? What control central do you use?
Jim Zimmerlin. Bet it took hours to set it all up. An yes enjoyed watching the trains. Real cool.
Why does this have 13 million view 😂😂
You wouldn't want your house to be taken over by model trains for a day?
@@JimZim yes I would 😂😂
Why not.
Hello Jim, the video is awesome, can you tell me where can i purchase this set.
A good place to get model trains is Trainworld.com
You won't find most of those exact locomotives... but you'll find others like them. Three of the four locomotives shown in this video were manufactured in very limited quantities and are basically no longer available. But there are many other similar model trains at Trainworld.com
Where do I buy this item
It's not an item to be bought. What you see in this video is a collection of individual items that were obtained over a period of years. Many of these are no longer produced. The collection you see in this video cost well over $10,000.
hello mr. jim zim. may i take your video for my short video needs?
Thank you
Thank you for asking, but the answer is no.

Lionel: Welcome me, me only.
I love your videos... I love all of your trains and how well you set up your tracks and I've never seen a G scale before I am a HO scale owner. Keep up your beautiful builds and take care Jim
That's Amazing 😘😍😋😘😍😋😘😍😋😘😍😋😎😎😎😎
Costo?
What you're seeing in this video cost about $10,000 USD
If you disliked you shouldn't have it took a long time to set this up so undislike
Yes, I really wish that after someone hits the dislike button, TH-cam would pop up a little form asking them to jot down a quick comment for the video's creator to let them know exactly what they disliked about it. I would love the feedback. Sometimes it's weird to see all the dislikes on a video that I think I've done a really good job on!
Jim Zimmerlin your trains are amazing
This has to be one of the coolest videos on TH-cam. Whoever you are, you're living one heck of a life. Keep it up:)

It's funny how with the steam engine chugging, along with the noise of the diesels moving it sounds like a beat.
Great stuff - a real train fanatic - obiviusly the trains comes first - good editing on the video
