      @@simplysaffire6162 I’ve been on rides that have broken down at Disney world, but we never had an in show exit. In 2016 when I last went, the haunted mansion and the little mermaid ride broke down so many times . We rode the haunted mansion ride probably 5-7 times and on three of those rides it broke down 2 times. The cast members said it was due to the weather. The same day the little mermaid ride broke 2 times on one ride. In 2012 the epoct ball broke down once and it was scary as hell

      as someone with progressively increasing joint issues (don't use a wheelchair but likely I'll need a cane before I'm 30) the cast member casually mentioning *seventeen flights of stairs* to get off the mountain made me shudder. no one had problems in the clip but I'm curious how someone that did have mobility issues would be gotten out - I'm assuming an elevator is highly likely hidden somewhere for such emergencies but it's kinda difficult for me to picture one fitting in there. though I can't picture the staircase fitting in there either and it demonstrably exists so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

    One of the most frightening experiences of my life (including a tour in Iraq in 2003) was riding "It's a Small World" when right after the ride began the music cut off. If you've ever rode through listening to all of the moving parts and really watching the animatronics, you know what I'm talking about. Like something straight out of a Wes Craven movie.

    It's funny how various disney fans actually desire for their ride to break down, and understably so.
    While most people don't want to lose that immersion, Disney Parks allow the ride to turn into a whole other awesome show that only so many get to see. It's even more exciting when you know how safe and secure these rides are and how prepared they are to keep you happy as your adventure is cut short.
    Can't say the same for places like Six Flags or Knott's Berry Farm, or basically any Outdoor Coaster park

    • @Johnwicklover1994
      @Johnwicklover1994 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      i mean to be fair, disney (and universal, since theyve got a similar thing going on) are more focused on immersion, visuals, and storytelling. Most Cedar Fair and Six Flags parks make rides with the intention to thrill and scare riders. The only reason most people don't care to experience a ride breakdown at those parks is because everything on the ride can already be seen (except for a few outliers, of course)

    • @blueflare3848
      @blueflare3848 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I don't understand why anyone would want a ride to break down. I feel like it would just be disappointing to not be able to experience the full ride the way it's intended.

    • @overlydramaticpanda
      @overlydramaticpanda 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@blueflare3848 It's kind of the one thing that annoys me a little about this channel, if I'm honest. To put it bluntly, the people who would tend to be actively happy about a ride breaking down are the people who are rich enough and/or close enough to a Disney resort to go to the parks a lot or at least fairly regularly, so breaking down is a more unusual experience for them than the ride running smoothly. Which is fine, but saying things like "Disney fans are always so excited to get an in-show exit" or "this is the moment every Disney fan wishes for" implies that anyone who *isn't* happy or excited about a ride breaking down isn't a "real" Disney fan; the reality of the situation is that some Disney fans (probably an ever-increasing number, honestly) simply cannot afford multiple or regular trips and would overall much rather experience the ride properly because they literally might not ever get another chance. Claiming a "Disney fan" will celebrate rides breaking down due to its relative rarity than experiencing the ride properly is...well, it rubs me the wrong way because from a certain point of view, it could be read as "you can't be a real Disney fan if you're too poor to go to the parks on the regular". I know whoever narrates these almost certainly doesn't mean it that way but that's how it can occasionally come across, especially regarding in-show exits rather than, say, animatronic malfunctions - and while there's never an excuse to be rude to cast members or maintenance staff over breakdowns and malfunctions or not follow evacuation instructions, let's be real, the average person - even a Disney fan - won't be *happy* about a ride breakdown, especially with how expensive even just a one-off visit to a Disney resort is.

      @@blueflare3848 People generally like it when they get to see something that wouldn't normally be shown to them. Plus, they get FastPasses/Lightning Lane to ride again later when it's working again. (Plus, amusement park rides exist at the intersection of engineering and art, so it's cool to see the engineering that goes into the art.)

    I've had one breakdown in my life and it was hysterical. Me and my family were riding Winnie the Pooh in WDW and we tripped a mat and broke the ride right as we were in the doorway between bouncing with Tigger and leaving the tree house. We were stuck for about 15-20 minutes since the maintenance people had to manually move our car so we could get out safely. (Most of us are not the smallest people in the world so we weren't able to squeeze out) So once we left and had our fast pass we tried to use it to ride Pirates (this was right after the auction refurbishment) and the Kraken escaped. So we just went back to the hotel with one of the best Disney world memories ever.

    The one time I can vividly remember having experienced an in show exit was on Splash Mountain at Disneyland California. We had gotten stuck on the turn right before the first actual drop, and we’re sitting there for about 10 minutes. All the boats in front of us were completely backed up. After about 15 minutes the cast members came to evacuate us, and we got a close up of all the animatronics and scenes from behind. Almost fell in the water since the gap was so wide. Absolutely one of my favorite moments.

    If there's anything we learnt from all these breakdowns and malfuctions, it's 1) people love seeing the behind the scenes of well engineered machines, and 2) people love walking through attractions sometimes more than riding through them. That's why I still believe Walt Disney's original idea for Haunted Mansion will have been popular today where people would just walkthrough the Museum of the Weird. The Great Movie Ride's final show looked to be a hit among park goers on that day where they just walked through the attraction and not ride it.

The water shut off just as we left the conveyor belt on the launch platform so we didn’t have enough speed to go up the first hill and we slid backwards into the middle of the two hills. I believe when he was a teenager, he went to the Magic Kingdom as a school trip or with his friends, something along those lines, and he went on It's A Small World and ended up getting stuck for a whole hour. Not too bad, right? Yeah, if the music had stopped. My dad was stuck on that ride for a whole hour listening to the song be played, over and over again. On the Expedition Everest malfunction, the malfunction was very likely the turn-table. My guess would be the computer never alert from the sensor confirming successful flip of the turntable.
    It's important to remember that most ride "breakdowns" are due to sensor errors, and nothing really broke down. The way most thrill rides are built, a full restart of the computer is required to bypass any sensor faults. In the case of complex rides with track switching elements, I would assume the best procedure is to evacuate the ride to ensure no accidental collisions with the turntables.

Unfortunately it was right at the end by the tea party so I only got to walk past that and the cake, but it really is so cool to see how small and relatively simple that ride is! Great video as always! Me and my family had a breakdown on Radiator Springs Racer back in 2021. We were at the end of the ride and near the area where you board off the ride and it stopped for about 20 minutes. A few cars up (one that just got boarded) , I noticed that it almost seemed like there was a “truck” on the car that opened and they were wires in that truck. I got a video of it, but it was too late and the car was out of frame because it had gotten pushed out of view at that time :(. We did have to wait for a cast member to get to our car and get us out and it was a great experience even if we didn’t get an in-show exit.

    In January my family and I were riding Indiana Jones: Temple of the Forbidden Eye, and the ride broke down right after Mara (the mask looking thing on the wall for those of you who don't know) had said, "You looked into my eyes! Your path now leads to the Gates of Doom!" Right after that was when the ride broke down. We sat there for thirty minutes (no Cast Members came to let us out), but then we continued the ride. After the ride, the Cast Members let us go on it again without leaving our transports, and thankfully, the ride didn't break down that time! It was a great experience for us to be honest.

    A very timely video for me because yesterday I was at Disneyland, and I noticed a few things.
    First and foremost, I got my first (true) evac! We were on Incredicoaster and were evaced after sitting on the launch track for about 15 minutes (which must be theme park standard because I work at Magic Mountain and I know that after 15, we call an auto evac). It was awesome cause me and my best friend perform evacs all the time but this is the first time we were evaced ourselves and we were really excited.
    Second - I have noticed that for about 3 weeks or so, Radiator Springs Racers has had a lot of issues. Last time I was at DCA (3 weeks ago) Sheriff and Mater were static whereas they would normally be moving; Luigi's mouth at the starting line was out of sync with his motion (though this is actually somewhat normal); and Lightning's mouth at the end was completely off. This time around, only Sheriff and Mater were still static, but also the curtains that would normally reveal our whitewall tires in Luigi's did not open.
    Third - apparently trying to unlock Chewie mode to quickly on Smuggler's Run will give your cockpit an error. At least, that's what it seems like because we tried that yesterday and were almost immediately told to board a different cockpit.
    Lastly, Rise broke down twice the last time I went. Once right during our briefing from Rey, and then the second time when we were on the transport ship. That was technically an evac for us because we were escorted into a backstage area.
    So yeah, things have been happening pretty frequently at Disneyland as of late. Believe me, it's not uncommon for all theme park rides to go down at least once in a day, but it's pretty interesting how often I've personally experienced it in my last couple of visits to Disneyland.

    I've been in a few breakdowns in my life, but the three I remember most are in 2006 and 2013. It was my first-ever visit to WDW, and our first day was at EPCOT. On our first ride on Test Track (the old GM version), the ride broke down in the Heat Room. Fortunately, they shut off the heatlamps, and while stuck, we started noticing all the details, including a Hidden Mickey made out of donuts. There was no In-Show Exit, and when we got back to the loading area, they let us go through again to experience the ride uninterrupted.
    Towards the end of our trip, me and my dad went on Body Wars. It was unsurprisingly a walk-on since the entire Wonders of Life Pavilion was on its deathbed. We got in the simulator, and it was cast members' birthday, so they played audio of Goofy singing "Happy Birthday To You". The film starts and...the shield goes back up abruptly. We were stuck in there while the other simulators cycled through, and to keep us entertained, they started piping "A Pirate's Life for Me" into the cabin (I like to think they directly spliced into the audio control over at the Magic Kingdom). After the other simulators cycled, we were rescued, put into another simulator, and the ride went without any further issue.
    The third was a breakdown on Peter Pan's Flight at Disneyland in 2013. You can go on my channel to see the two-part video (be aware that I had just received an iPhone, and therefore there's a lot of needless commentary from me and my dad).
    Other breakdowns I can remember include when we got stuck on Toy Story Mania at DCA just after the screens showing the scores, another where we got stuck on Hyperspace Mountain RIGHT when we returned to the loading area (they still use the same 1977 breakdown spiel for the overlay), plenty of stops on Omnimover rides (I remember on one occasion, Buzz Lightyear's Astro Blasters at Disneyland was stopped long enough for the safety rails to pop up, and back in 2019, there was a lengthy stop on Haunted Mansion caused by an apparent medical emergency at the unload, just after me and my family had boarded).
    Every time I ride Space Mountain, I always will it to break down so I can ride with the lights on. To date, no such luck.
