Excellent video of an excellent road with beautiful surroundings but for $476 million for a 51km, 4 lane dual carriageway, that was like 3 times the normal price considering Thika-Nairobi highway was expanded into a superhighway at cost of $320 million complete with service lanes, exchanges, access control and foot bridges
You have a point. It's like an expensive tunnel that starts somewhere and ends somewhere without any single benefit to the surrounding communities. Actually people along that road curse the entire project
I think the number of bridges both under pass and fly overs plus the land ownership policy in Uganda not forgetting profit on borrowed money, cost of shipping materials and machinery to a land locked country is what makes it expensive otherwise you may not file any corruption case here.

Nice video though the driver is using the wrong lane. He is supposed to use the outer one. Here, we keep left. Only use the inner one for over taking only. Next remind the driver to use to outer lane. It's a traffic offence to keep in the inner lane

Seems you never watched the video very well, the cameras are many there and there's police patrols and not police stations like in Kenya. The police patrols keep on patrolling the entire road to ensure safety and also you are given a contact at the toll gate incase you get into trouble. Ambulances are also there and the contact given helps to call them incase of any problem

For such a budget spent, you would expect More. And with road talls, I expect to see a cleaning vehicle washing it at least twice a month. We must be so dirty to call this a super clean road. If you're reading this and ever get a chance to travel, you'll experience real roads/highways that are even cheaper than this

This is actually the opposite. You may not have been to this road to tell a clear picture. No access roads or pedestrian pathways for those having property along this road. Go see it yourself. Drive during the day.
We already know the roads in Kampala are the worst in the world. But also Uganda needs to buy trucks that sweep and wash roads to keep this highway clean. If the highway cost Uganda that much then they need to keep it clean. They did a good job on this one. What also makes this highway look good, is less congestion but Uganda's roads are full of motorcycles. If Uganda can reduce corruption, increase the education level of most Ugandans and change presidential terms to two term limits, then Uganda's potential is limitless.
Truth is you have to pay. All the neighborhood along that road will never access later on use it. Property value and businesses along this same road have been drastically degraded. What's the point in spending hundreds of millions of USD on just a few km road that leads no where?!!

I don't think it's the most expensive in the world, not even in Africa. Country like South Africa🇿🇦, all their freeways are tolled, and they've one of the most beautiful and longest freeways in the world. That freeway isn't even 60km long.

It's rated expensive because alot of money exchanged hands on that road. It was a scandle. It's not said to be expensive because of high quality but hyped costs due to corruption. Are u aware that road each kilometer costed $1m and same quality road @ kilometer was costed $200000 on thika road Kenya. That's how museveni government operates. You get the actual cost of something then ×3/4/5 if u cant break that deal as tender company , you loose the government tender to the company that is ready to serve the corrupt officials. Thats the game.
Are u aware that Uganda is among top 3 countries in the world with high electricity bill moreover they got much electricity even neighbours are supplied but neighbors pay less electricity bills than the citizens where electricity comes from. Thats how sick Uganda is.
