  • Database triggers in Xano allow you to execute logic any time a change is made inside of a database table. Using triggers in your application is a fantastic way to promote efficiency and is the basis for building true real-time functionality in your Xano back-end.

Very cool, I might use it. Now what happens if 20k records get added to a table (buld add) that has such a trigger. Will those be processed in sequence?

    YES!

Hey there, is it possible to use one of these DB triggers to execute a Xano Lambda? The docs dont really touch on this and it seems like these are mostly DB functions that are triggered, but I'd like to trigger 1 or more lambdas when a write is made on a specific table, Ideally being able to chain these together so that when one lambda finishes, it passes data to a second to process etc.

Definitely! You have the full power of a function stack that you can use in triggers.

Wooow, congratulations, such a new concept. And one of the worst besides SPs and Views...
Never put logic into the database. DB is persistence... if you spread your logic into it, good luck getting that shit
maintained. Dont get me wrong, for a little hobby mini project that's ok. But dont start building enterprise with that horror concept.

Hey Toby! Thanks for your perspective. When using triggers, the business logic is handled by our function stack. It is no different than managing APIs and functions. Happy to discuss this further!

@@nocodebackend Why should any business logic be handled by a framework or SaaS or database even? How would i test this without a E2E or at least an integration test?

@@tobyzieglerrr We'd absolutely love to dive deeper into this topic and discuss it further. 😊 How about joining us for office hours? It would be the perfect opportunity to explore your questions in detail and also touch on anything else you're curious about.
