@@setonhillstudios for sure, Prince talked about this song like Trent Reznor did about Johnny Cash singing hurt. It was no longer their song the covers made it their own.

I'm Irish - Sinéad was a master of 'Keening' ☘it stretches deep into our cultural heritage; it stems from loss/funerals/grieving We are still mourning our beautiful Daughter Sinéad💔She was a force of nature with unmatched talent, but she was also very fragile. The video was shot in one take and those tears are REAL - her mother had just recently died. (Sinéad had a very difficult relationship with her mother.)
Please react to her live acapella performance of 'I Am Stretched On Your Grave' - a 17th-century Irish poem that she transformed with just her voice and a James Brown 'beat box' sample; She was keening for our Country & it is pure perfection.
The media and music industry cruelly shunned her for speaking THE TRUTH about the catholic abuse of innocent Irish children, including herself & she was eventually proven CORRECT - now an acknowledged fact globally.
But the damage was already done to her and her career. I hope they're proud of their relentless victim shaming of a 23 year old girl who was brave enough to speak out.
I hope that she's finally at peace with her beloved son, Shane💚"Suaimhneas síoraí dá hanam"

U should check out the live version. This iconic singer they tried to boycott her so she wouldn’t succeed. She had way more talent than a Madonna or a Cher but didn’t follow the ‘rules’. She ripped the popes picture her mother had hanging in their living room on the SNL show. She refused to dress half naked and let her hair grow long. She even fought Prince when she visited him at home when he tried to tell her how to behave on Tv. She ran away from his house in the middle of the night after he tried to abuse her physically. Police found her walking along the highway.
So many stories and hardship in life. Mother abusive died young, her son passed away suicide just a 2 years ago before she passed away. Etc may she rest in peace, she found peace I hope in her last years through religion, Islam.

    G'day mate
Its definitely a song about pain and heart break
Whats more she conveys it not only by voice but visually
The music enhances her voice beautifully
With the strings at certain times
Then you hear like choir backing sound coming going
Also the other instruments comimng going so nothing over done
You can see living the pain of the lyrics from personal experiences
It so relatable to anyone who had a relationship that broken up
Without agreeing to the seperation so carry the pain within them
Another female singer who's voice is as haunting beautiful is Karen carpenter
She also plays drums while singing as drums was her passion
But was pulled out from behind the drums to sing and all natural talent
You can see her glow everytime she got to play them
Her voice effects almost everyone who hears it and been referred to as angel singing
Yet she didn't think a great singer
These two would be two female's that effects people with voice and emotions
Its the intimacy they create with their eye's and voices
    Cheers mate 🦘🇦🇺👍

The best songs come from people's hearts. The emotions must be real. Like James Blunt's 'Monsters' or even Johnny Cash's 'Hurt'. You've probably heard them.

Our goosebumps when it came out was like yours now. A friend of mine named her son Troy, because of that song from same album.

If you want to hear how fantastic her voice really is check out her doing The Foggy Dew with The Chieftains live, I knew she was excellent but listening to that was a real eye opener on how good she really was

The tear gets me everytime. I love her voice but the saddest song I've ever heard in my lifetime is "Sam Stone" by John Prine.

I'm going to sound old (I am), but today's musicians should be forced to watched this to learn how to put emotion into their music. This is how it's done.

Prince wrote this as a tribute to his long term maid who moved back to Puerto Rico to look after her parents. Sinead made the song famous with her version but i think Chris Cornell's version is the best by far.
