Just recently LISTENED to the lyrics of this song and realize it's a gospel song! My mum loved it and was always humming it when I was about 4. She was ecstatic when I brought it up!!!
This amazing song is as old as I am!..... What awesome force is it that can make a white middle age mountaineer love this music so...... Must be reggae!!!..... Pure REGGAE!!!
My youthful age i heard this inspirational gospel raggae music and it went into my soul, body n spirit. I couldn't afford it, cos I was a student. Now an adult but couldn't find the LP again in my country. Once I 'm in distressed and worried about life this music will cut across my mind, but no way to see hear or play it. Now I 'm getting on n on for hearing it now. Thanks to TH-cam
At this point 0:01 I experinced goose bumps and my body started to shiver with nostalgia of times when the deep voice of Mr radio himself, Peter "Vus" Manzana, would cover the Radio Mmabatho air waves on Saturdays afternoons 😢😢😭😭

Toots, where has this tune been... searched shops humming it thinking the antedant will remembere... no way they didnt... now here am I... thanks to utube!!!!!!!!!!!!1
Now I realize what Toots was actually singing about. That He will never go down into the fires 🔥 of Hell because, as He sings: 'God is merciful '. Also don't judge ppl cause ' soon you will found out' they are not who you thought they are.
I searched for this tune for too long, I couldn’t recall the lyrics. This is beautiful, I wish I could get it on iTunes, plus the lyrics . Guys please assist with lyrics
OMG!!! Av been looking for this tune for ages! Toots Hibbert and the Maytals! This post even includes the dub version! Thanx for posting Sugademus. "Dub it up! Dub it up!! Skanking!!!
SholaAjijala best comment ever. So glad you found it. I grew up on punk rock- Rancid in particular and they are big on “roots reggae.” Without Toots and reggae there’s no punk rock.
This is going to make my ears want to procreate, that is If my ears could find women ears to Fornicate. Two dubs from Toots in a row and both are absolute master pieces.
A subtle difference with the Reggae Got Soul album, where the song is entitled Rastaman, is more brass instruments at the beginning of the song before the lyrics kick in.
Hi Moksha!! The lyrics from the first two verses are from the Bible. So, for the first verse, Toots sings Psalm 19:1-2. In the second verse, he sings John 1:1. I'm not so sure about the third verse, however. I hope that helps. I have been listening to this song for a very long time, and it never gets old.
