In pursuit of empowering the Filipino workforce by providing more quality, remunerative and permanent jobs, including the creation of environmentally friendly ‘green jobs,’ President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. convenes the 2024 National Employment Summit at the Manila Hotel in the City of Manila on June 27, 2024.
With the theme, ‘Trabaho Para sa Bayan: Maunlad na Negosyo at Dekalidad na Trabaho, Daan sa Bagong Pilipinas,’ the two-day event that began on June 26 brings together leaders from various labor groups and organizations, top executives from private business organizations, as well as representatives from micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) and other stakeholders.
Spearheaded by the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), in partnership with the National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA), Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) and the International Labour Organization (ILO), the National Employment Summit seeks to establish the guiding principles for the ‘Trabaho Para sa Bayan (TPB)’ Plan which will serve as the country's master plan on employment generation and recovery.
Prior to the event, the DOLE and ILO organized pre-summit consultations with stakeholders from the government and private sector, policymakers and representatives of key employment-generating sectors with the aim of translating national employment strategies into actionable regional plans and targets.
