- Reviewing the VF Engineering Supercharger Install on my BMW E46 325Ci Coupe. If you have been looking at the VF Engineering Supercharger kit to install forced induction on your Non M BMW E46, then I have made this video just for you.
I recently installed the VF Supercharger kit onto my E46, and in this video I give a full review of the install process. The quality of the packaging, the quality of the parts, and the ease of installation.
The VF Supercharger kit is one of a few that are available for the Non M E46, so if you are unsure of which kit is best for taking the mods on your E46 to the next level, this is a great video to help you decide.

I just completed this install myself. I'm running very lean fuel trims in 20s. I've smoked tested the car three times absolutely zero vacuum leaks not sure what the issue is. By my boost gauge I don't seem to making any boost. I've been trying to troubleshoot shot the issues for a while now and I'm running out of ideas. Any help would be appreciated.

So this is my 4th or 5th video of yours that I've watched and you're already putting on Superchargers and performance cams!!! Top of the shelf quality bud and I can't wait to see what other.......interesting ideas you come up with in your quest for power and handling! Did you have to send your DME off for programming? I recommend getting INPA and NCS for dummies etc on a laptop as it's a no brainier and you'll be cursing yourself as to why you hadn't done so earlier. Great for diagnosing and a nice starting point for programming factory settings like daytime running lights, weather you want your car to make an audible beep when locking or unlocking remotely a visual (head and tailights) alert, both or none. All option's buy would have when making the initial sale at the dealer.
I've got an 01 e39 530i so a number of your mods apply to me too. Great content, please keep it up.

Thanks so much for the comment 😍This has been a project at least 4 years in the making, lots of reading, watching vids, and reading more forums etc. To be honest its been trying to piece together an end goal within a budget and the resources I have available in a home garage. I think car projects are like art, we take a blank canvas (like my stock E46), and try and create something better. And because it's art, it never ends and will constantly evolve, so yes I still have lots of plans and ideas moving forward, and I am sure some will work and others will not, but that's the fun of what we do. We constantly learn, as we push the boundaries. Thanks for the Tip about programming, (VF Engineering included a flash drive to re programme the DME without having to send it from Aus to US and back). Thanks once again.

As I'm in market for supercharger aswell and was considering vf, but as you mentioned that this looks like came out from factory with it, I disagree, simply because afaik only ess twin screw is the one that leaves enough room for stock airbox and is almost invisible, like it belongs there.
Only my opinion.
That's why I'm still considering to go extra way for ess ts2.

I recently discovered your channel and love the content. I live in Sydney and recently installed a VF Engineering Supercharger on my M54B30 and love it. Suits the car really well and gives me just that extra power you want.
Don't cut the MAF sensor line. All you have to do is remove the plastic box all the wires route, cover all the wires that are then exposed, and you get much more length and it helps make it possible without splicing stuff.

I went with the ESS tuning kid for my 330, it’s pretty much the same but with a silicone discharge tube instead of the hard kind like yours.

You can also open the engine and put in 3liter crank rods and pistons for and additional boost in power
Maybe you could buy an after market air scoop that the old air box connects with get some heat shield to block the heat coming off the coolant reservoir and some thin aluminum to create a nice box for the air to come in and make a nice flow for the intake and reduce the risk of getting water sucked in if u ran it that low I would imagine you would have to dodge every puddle and possibly only drive it on non rainy days but I’m still learning so I could be wrong

When I had my car NA my cars would jump up and down when I had the MAF so close to the filter pod so I had little short ram pipe to help, so same with the SC I put a little pipe between MAF and filter, my MAF sit higher than yours, but my filter sit in same location as you behind bumper hole also put my ambient temp sensor next to filter

Thx for posting these vids, been such a huge help! I bought my VF V3 kit for my 325i second hand and it didn’t come with spark plugs. Can you pls let me know which specific plugs came with your kit? Also do you know the Lb metrics on the green injectors?

hi mate. I'm nearing completion of turbocharging my 330ci. Tricky, because RHD (I'm Australian too). It's all custom so far, because I could not find an acceptable kit that works for RHD. I believe I will be able to re-commission the aircon, which I am yet to see, even on LHD cars. It will take some custom lines, but should be doable.

Did you end up with an engine light on after installing the charger? If yes, what code?
Not to be rude, but if the kit was complete and up damaged when you got it how can the packaging be rated as anything but perfect? What else would you expect from it? I only say this because I don’t think that should be considered at all in your rating as long as the kit arrived in the expected condition.
Don't apologize, I appreciate all feedback. Yes you are right that if the goods arrive undamaged then the packaging has met its requirements. My point is more based on the fact that when you pay a substantial amount of $$$$ for an item the supplier could give a bit more thought into the quality of the packaging to ensure that it survives all transport and shipping conditions, because in my case it only just made it.
Now the question is, can it still be considered naturally aspirated? Mine is stock naturally aspirated S54 motor but also has a diverter single turbo, not to mention 6 speed smg 2 transmission, is mine now not considered naturally aspirated or what? Since the manual states that it's still naturally aspirated even with the stock diverter valve single turbo, also I heard if you put a blow off valve on a e46 bmw it ruins the set up and air flow and actually ruins performance yet so many do this 🤔 what I love about my e46 bmw is its convertible, for a 2004 it has alot of up to date luxury features, high rpms especiallyin sport mode, the sound especially threw tunnels, the handling is well made, just overall the e46 is a perfectly sound car

I don't know for certain, it doesn't mention specifics in the instructions. You may need to reach out to VF Engineering direcrlt.

Hey man do you think the dinan air intake could take the place of that intake or would it be to wide ?
Great question....And I don't know! But I would think that the answer would be no because the supercharger takes up more space than you imagine and you would not fit the standard airbox into that area.

Hey one other question, how do you feel about the performance gains? I finished my install on my 2001 325 a few months ago and I really don’t feel a huge difference. I think top line power is improved, but overall limited improvement. Perhaps I have a minor boost leak or the stock VF tube can be improved with a custom tune. Curious to get your thoughts!

My son and I just installed this kit on his E46 and now he has a substantial oil leak and we can't seem to pinpoint it. Any thoughts?
oil filter housing gasket? anything around the oil lines
@@andrewrodriguez7678 on his install we didn't have to remove anything oil related. We did have to replace the one oil filter housing bolt with the one for the supercharger bracket. Maybe the new torque difference let the gasket fail? With the mods to the ccv system could the crankcase pressure be too high?
the oil filter housing gasket gets brittle as it ages and the rubber turns to plastic its a cheap part but just takes some time and the leak could be from that point
If you can't find it out some dye in it and check with a black light
The only thing I can think of is the oil filter housing gasket. It's the only oil related component that you have to touch with the instal

What is the little bung on the black intake pipe used for I’m lost on that. The bung that’s at the very beginning where the intake clamps onto the sc inlet

Hey man! I'm in the process of installing the kit right now. I can't seem to figure out where the CCV modified pipe connects to, would you be able to help me out?
Yeah its the hose that runs from the ccv to the manifold next to the injector rail. The kit comes with a cap to plug up the manifold, you will need to remove the fitting from the hose and then install the small rubber hose with brass hose barb that comes in the kit onto that ccv hose. I broke 2 of the hose one old and one new doing this so be real gentle. Hope this helps.

I saw your video about the blow off valve. Did you end up putting the short tubed side into the pipe coming off of the throttle body?
where did you get that piece that connects between the intake and the maf? that wasn't in my kit. can I get a part number or a link. Thank you!
are you referring to the flex pipe? This came with the kit, so unfortunately I do not have a Part number (coz it came with the kit).

This job is not for someone that doesn’t have mechanical experience, if you see my install video I started with nothing and customized everything else

Two weeks ago, I installed new dif 3.38 instead of defaul 2.93 and the car goes even faster than in the video.
ECS sucks at packaging. . .
