Great to see you again~ because of you , during the winter I hiked the trail around the lake.. a lot of ice and snow but a good workout! Thanks for your awesome videos Christian!

I haven't made it to the lake in the winter, I think it would be a great trip. Maybe this winter! I am not sure what direction you came from but I usually come from NY-28 and it is a treacherous drive over Cross Mountain Road. I'm not sure I would venture that route in winter. Coming from US-209 would be a safer bet.

I really like that poncho shelter!! Seems like you’d still need some sort of rain jacket w you though. Cause once youve gotten soaked setting your shelter (and it’s still raining) youll need something for around camp to keep from getting even more wet. Still a cool shelter. Always great to have dual purpose stuff. Looked like a great time !👍

I like the shelter too, for the price and weight I think its one of the best options out there if you don't mind the minimalist setup. I always bring a rain jacket for the exact reason you mention; once the tent is setup I am confined to the shelter if I want to stay out of the rain.

Nice job man, looks like the wind had died down by evening time, surprised you had no look then with the fishing at that point. It’s still early in the season though and nice to get 2 at least!

You know I was surprised as well, things got off to a decent start. I was appreciative of the luck I did have though and there is always another day!

    Yay, New 2021 season starts!
Looking forward to see your coming adventures. Good catches; do you always put them back? Nice campsite there. I did overnighter at Ashokan High Point on Spring Equinox with my cousin. We are planning to go another overnighter in May.

I will cook them up if they are over the size limit and its late enough in the day. The couple I managed to catch this trip were too small. Is there good places to camp at Ashokan High Point? I don't believe I have been up there.

@@christiandenniston7177 Really? You haven't? Maybe it's too short for you to spend a night. There're plenty of campsites, I think. When I was there, summit area was all snow covered. So I just set my tent up on where it was reasonably flat.

This looks truly amazing. I would love to do some overnight kayak camping. Great fishing! I saw you on another hiking channel and wanted to come over and checks yours out.

Awesome video. Did you love the Serenity net paired with the cape? I actually just got back from a trip also and used the Serenity net with my cape.. I was glad I brought that instead of my bivy because the bugs were nasty for a bit and the Serenity net tent gave me a nice safe haven to sit up or lay down and not be bothered.
Watching your previous videos made me decide to pick up the Gatewood Cape, and it has already become my favorite shelter!!!

The serenity worked out perfect. Honestly, not a huge difference between it and my previous inner net as they are similar. The serenity is just a better and easier fit so I think it was worth the upgrade. Every so I often I look into cuben shelters from various outfits but they just don't offer the weight savings over the gatewood to justify the price!

@@christiandenniston7177 i have had DCF shelters.. and sold them off. The silpoly and silnylon are the way to go, in my opinion. They pack much smaller then the DCF and they only weigh slightly more.. and cost much less. I can save the few ounces somewhere else and I love how small it packs down!!!

Hi again Christian - I did the loop a couple of times at Alder the other day, and noticed a tree off the trail with all the bark off of it and piled at the base. Do you think it's Beavers? Thanks!
