You should use Baby daisy, pipe frame, roller wheel, peach parasol because the pipe frame got buffed and it got insane acceleration and handling
Personally I only use inside drift in mk8dx the last time I used outside drift was when I was 100% the game
The shortcut that you call in wild woods is just an alternate route. Sorry Troy but it is what it is man.
To answer your question about what us inside drift mains do when we get thrown into a wall or some awkward area in which others would be able to hop-recover out of: we frown, adjust our angle, and accept our last place as we finish the race in shame
Just so you know, Jet Bike actiually shares stats with Short Bike, and Yoshi Bike shares stats with Comet (As well as with Teddy Buggy, fun fact). The bad one is the Master Cycle.
Is it good when paired with the full link combo? (Champion's Tunic Link/Master Cycle/Triforce Tires/Hylian Kite)
@@zainepittman653 I don't think it's a very good combo in terms of viability, especially due to the wheels, but I've never actually tried it, nor do I play this game competitively so I dunno.

@@DrakeNotTheRapper392I don’t play comp but I do play inside drift more than outside drift, the master cycle and sport bike difference are not noticable. Depending on your preference the master cycle could be a better choice since the drift isn’t as tight as yoshi bike.
I’m glad you’re enjoying inside drift, I hope that the insane alternate lines, smaller more nimble hitbox and dynamic gameplay makes you at least consider playing this every so often, having some drift variety would really freshen up your Deluxe gameplay ! Thank you again for listening to us.

I still think the learning curve is way too steep for me to ever willingly use inside drift in this game personally. I'm just so accustomed to the regular lines and intuitive movement that inside drift simply does not have in this game (much unlike Mario Kart Wii lol). I'll never understand how some people get so good with this awkward control style.
@@markymark443 personally, I just picked a bike from the get go and I didn’t really have much problems learning the game with it. Also I have a some experience with bike simulators, which have a similar cornering meta, so I guess it helped
i love inside drift! when racing online you can out line all of your opponents and get ez top placements. cool to see troy try it out.

To me it feels just so odd that I really not like them, I enjoy in fact outside drift lot more myself

@@TheBenjaman Yeah, I imagine it's just to get used to it if anything. Usually when I play Mario Kart 8 at all I use the Standard Combo, mainly because I personally don't really like to pick three parts. I rather have how Mario Kart Wii had with the vehicles. I have used other combos in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe but kinda barely.

My normal combo is Iggy/Yoshi Bike/Leaf tire but I’ve been using Azure Roller recently

Those were some really good races! Inside drift seemed to work pretty well for you overall. I don't know if it's in the cards, but if you ended up one of the few inside drift mains it'd be very fitting lol. That bomb snipe on Thwomp Ruins was great by the way.

Yoshi Bike and Comet share stats.
Altough they feel different with Yoshi Bike being a bit more compact in design and arms leaning in the direction of your drift.
I usually prefer Comet however, Also I'd like to add that this vehicle has really impressive tire placement so you could for example run Cushions and gain tons of Invincibilty without their size being unpractical.

You'd be surprised how good inward players are
The play style of inside drift is very different from normal karts so here’s some things to remember if anyone wants to learn. This is coming from somebody who has used inside since the game came out and I see these as the most common mistakes on videos like this:
1. The drift does start of slow and then kick up a notch, this means your lines need to be different from the other two types.
2. You can’t hop to change alignment. Hopping on an inside only changes wether or not you touch the ground. If you try to hop to realign with a mushroom, you are doing it wrong. Just commit to the drift and it will all work out, just have a bit of faith.
3. Coins are much easier to grab on inside drift because the lines they use are actually optimal for inside drift oftentimes. If you are starting out, follow the coins and you might have a lot more success.
4. Hitting walls means most of the time you actually have to give up a turbo, it sucks, but your base turning while out of drift is better than you think, just let go of the drift and drive without it until you are realigned.
Pretty sure the yoshi bike has the same stats as teddy buggy too, so it's pretty dang good if you can get used to it. I almost feel like it can be even better in many cases because it throws other people off. I hate racing around inward drifters.
As a inside drift main I flinched every time you went wide on unnecessary turns 😭😭😭
I usally hold the brake button while drifting for a second if im about to bump into a wall during a drift. If you hold the brake for too long, your drift will stop. I dont know if it works for inside drift because i always use outside drift. Also, wiggler with all gold car parts is a decent combo

I've been using Yoshi, Yoshi bike, azure roller, and cloud glider basically since the game came out back in 2014, and it's incredible to see Troy also using it.
As a inward main I know I'm going to enjoy every second of this video.

I love that you're always trying out new combos and pushing yourself to be even better! Just a little tip: inside drift works great for charging ultra mini-turbos because of the initial swing-out you experience when turning. Try drifting outside then going inside really sharply - it'll get you super and ultra mini-turbos really easily. I hope you try some more inside drift bikes soon!

I bought mario kart 8 deluxe like, 2 weeks ago. I started out using inside drift bikes and now I can't stop lol. I tried using a normal kart andit just felt unnatural. You do kinda need to know how to break drift, even on 150cc, because on maps like rainbow road 8 you can fall off pretty easily. I think it's made me a bit better at 200cc than average, but I still feel like I'm drunk when playing it.
Ok that was really entertaining. I’ve not played MKWii in so long so I completely forgot how it feels to use an inside bike so I mostly have an idea with the inside (hybrid) drifting in MK8, it’s weird at first but then you get used to it and it’s still viable (except when you have to hop)
One advantage of inside in MK8 online is that you take different lines and you get hit less often
Good to finally see you join the inside drift gang! I've mained inward since the WiiU 8 days, and they've gotten progressively more viable since Deluxe came out, to the point where there are a couple of inward WRs that might be unbreakable by non-inward vehicles.

I'm so glad to see Troy using inside drift in mk8dx I actually started using my main combo (Peach/Comet/Off-roads/Peach Parasol) after a started watching his mkwii videos on CTGP
Inward is also fun because of the angles you can backspam in the turns. Your view while looking back is really good, so it makes it way easier to be a menace to other racers!

I dabble with the inside drift bikes in this game here and there and they're so fun! My faves are the comet the yoshi bike and the jet bike when I use inside drift
I only use the Inside Drift bikes in this game ever since I was able to get used to how they work, it makes the game so much more fun in my opinion! My favorite's the Jet Bike and the only bike that I use

I know this video is fairly old by now, but I remember tring Sport Bike once, a long time ago.... and never looked back. Trying to use outside-drift actually feels completely off to me nowadays.
I think the best way I can describe inside-drifting is that it feels a bit like a slingshot. Needing to commit to a turn makes the whole drift feel more intense, and the sense of velocity you get when coming out of the turn seems a lot stronger to me than the other vehicles. I also think it helped me learn the tracks better, since the stakes of misjudging a turn or slipping into a hazard are a bit higher.
I am an inside drift main. I actually feel like I have more control and mobility at high speeds. It can be difficult on 200, but they work really well on 150! I hope you use them again Troy!

Troy i was watching your vids since i was in kindergarten and now im going into the 11th grade. Especially your mkwii vids it really puts a smile on my face. My favorite vid is when You teamed up with Nmeade and Sword in the 3v3v3v3 tournament. It was sone very funny moments and really made me happy watching the person i look up to destroying any competition with “Bam! Shock dodges” i hope you keep making mario kart content
Once you learn inside drift and you learn the maps turn by turn your damn near unstoppable, especially if you got a good mini turbo stat

Hi Troy! If you want a real shortcut with inside drift on Wild Woods, you can cut the barrel by hopping, saves enough time for a breakaway after the alternate route!
I got to play mario kart for the first time last week at school, one of the teachers had brought a community switch for ppl to play on during breaks, and i didnt have any assignments for the day, so instead of going home i got to play mario kart. I remember trying both inside and outside drift vehicles and i honestly didnt spot something was different, I think i was moreso focusing on the "haha look at big bowser in small car doing tricks" and i will keep playing at school at breaks.
I'm certainly not an inward main but when I do use inward drift for fun I always find myself being able to squeeze out more UMTs than usual

My two favorite combos are Dark Blue Yoshi on the master cycle and red rollers to match and now Petey Piranha on the yoshi bike with red rollers and cloud glider for perfect color combo
On Wild Woods, I've always just assumed that the right path is just an alternate route since the course splits halfway into that path and the left one

I have been using inside drift more often that regular vehicles (Lakitu, Comet/Monster/Cloud Glider being my go to). In all honestly they should buff them to where they have a higher mini turbo build if when drifting because you basically become ride or die for your drifts since the cannot hop turn (or whatever it’s called idk).

I recently did a red shell dodge by jumping over the rail/wall at the top of the stairs at the end of Daisy Cruiser. I was smug about it for ages
back in 2015, there was a MK8 clan that exclusively used inside drift and they were actually really good
how you turn with 0 speed with inside drift in MK8 is pressing a/b and steering to the direction you want and then accelerate, its similar to how stand still mt works to realign yourself.
I think it'd be fun to do a video around track generations. Maybe a tournament with one SNES trach, N64, GBA, GCN, DS, Wii, 3DS, and an original.
I used to only use inside drift in MK8 since I was used to it from Mario Kart Wii, but recently I finally switched to outside drift and now it feels like I've completely unlearned inside drift... it feels so wrong and weird now

The Placebo Effect is in full swing on Troy in this video, He does well with the Bikes that he thinks have the same stats (Yoshi bike and Sport Bike), and then does poorly on the bikes that are actually Identical to the two he did well with (Comet=Yoshibike Jet bike= Sport bike).

I've been playing some inside drift recently, and isn't it just a different angle between your velocity and vehicle rotation? I find I'm just facing outwards more on turns and can take the same lines as karts
Green's my fav color too. Kelly green is my favorite shade tho. Less of a fan of sage green.

With outside drift, you generally want to go as tight as possible around corners, and if you go a little too tight by accident, you can just drift back out. With inside drift however, you are not able to drift outwards again, so you generally have to either memorize the turns, or take all turns a little wider, making your racing lines less optimal.
Inside drift is usually able to drift a little tighter when you know what you are doing, however outside drift is able to readjust your angle by drifting outwards or hopping to change your alignment after a turn. If you are used to outside drift where you can always realign yourself, inside drift is a nightmare before you get used to doing good turns which don't require realignment afterwards.
By far the hardest thing about inside drift however is the fact that you don't oversteer. The camera is pointed the same direction as the cart, so with outside drift where your kart oversteers, you are able to look far ahead into the turn you are taking. With inside drift however, because you don't oversteer, the camera points out of the turn, and on really sharp turns you literally cannot see what obstacles are in the turn ahead of you, making it impossible to dodge many items.

Me personally, I play defensively with Yoshi (mainly yellow bc that’s my fav color in general), biddy buggy, azure roller and cloud chutes (I forget their name), but after this, I might try Yoshi bike.
Everyone’s always changing up the the character and the vehicle but everyone agrees nothing beats azure rollers
