I like this video (nice edit/narration). I love diving the Devil's cave system, but I hate having to run the Ginnie Springs Outdoors gauntlet to do so. My friend and cave instructor (Chris B.) taught me the "tricks" to diving this system including (as others have already advised) "get near the ceiling of the gallery where the flow is lowest", "pull and glide" (note: there won't be much, if any, gliding going in), or just "USE A SCOOTER" (no kicking required!!!). If I tried to swim against that flow, low through the gallery, I would be cramping long before the lips and I would waste a lot of gas (I don't need help wasting OC gas). In my opinion, the real fun starts after the turn, when I can relax and "go with the flow"! Thanks for putting this out there. I'll show it ...
Thank you Anthony! It means a lot to us that people take time to watch and especially for sharing your thoughts. We love The system there. I hope it reopens soon. The first few times we went we did stay near the top and it was much easier. We have a scooter but don’t feel comfortable using a DPV in the caves yet. We want to practice, practice, practice. Thank you again for giving us a piece of your day sir.
@@FoundInTheRiverAndCaves Oh, I think you are going to LOVE diving your DPV in Devils! That said, I wouldn't take it in there without a DPV Cave cert., or without an instructor. Ginnie Springs Outdoors has been known to ban divers for life!!!

Ditch the tank boots :) Go high through the gallery, look for places to hide from the flow behind rocks and such. Pull and glide through most of that and the lipps:) I always enjoy looking at wet rock videos though.
The video quality is fantastic. As a rec diver and as many cave dive video's I've watched, I just don't get the attraction other than the tech side of it. I guess some folks like me prefer 80 degree water, a shorty, lots of pretty fish and coral and having a drink on the beach in the afternoon. ;) That's being said, maybe telling us how you started diving and how you ended up cave diving might be fun. For us lazy vacation divers that want to visit the FL springs; any must do's on your list?
Thank you Chris!!!! Great points and phenomenal question. We will discuss this in an upcoming video. Big thanks for the compliment on video quality. We are new to the videography and photography, try to turn out better videos with each one. Ginnie was filmed on a day that everything lined up perfectly for us, and I know it shows. So far it’s the one that gets the most “wow” comments. Thank you for sharing your day with us and spending a few minutes to help us grow. We really do appreciate it.
Thank you very much!!! We try to get better with each one but this video was really the best one yet as far as things we’ve tried to improve what the viewer sees. Thank you Armando!!!!
excellent video quality and glad you guys got certfied. one thing that would concern me being in the back with all that flow is if something went wrong and I couldn't get my buddy's attention. Not certified in any way but just wondering what methods cave training (or otherwise) covers that caveat.
Thank you so much for watching and for asking such a great question. One of the skills required to become certified for cave diving is something called “light awareness”. We use lights for various communications. If we need to get someone’s attention we move our lights in a certain pattern to indicate emergency, yes, no, take notice, etc. for instance if I were having an emergency, I would shake my light very quickly. If I want to convey that I’m ok, I would draw slow circles on the wall or ground in front of my buddy. You’ll see that in the video a few times. I hope that helps to clarify your question. Thank you again for sharing a part of your day with us. 😁
I appreciate this video as I can see it was a nice dive. However, I don’t enjoy close confined spaces while breathing underwater. I do stick my head in some caves/caverns throughout Florida for the experience, but I turn around long before I can get into trouble. Plus, I don’t like the idea of Mother Earth sitting on my head. It’s just not for me since I get bored looking at rock formations after 2 minutes, lol, and I like to see the fishies. 🤣. I will be looking for the next video though. Nice job on this one. God bless!
Thank you so much for taking time to watch and to comment. I know caves are not for everyone, including friends of mine who love diving. I love seeing SeaLife as well, but my curiosity makes me lean toward the caves. Thank you for your kind words and encouragement. 👌🏻

if im not mistaken one of those lights i am seeing in this video is a cheap amazon light i just did a video on it im working on uploading it as we speak
I noticed you weren't pulling and gliding your way through the cave. Is there a reason? I've learned that using your arms rather than your big leg muscles to travel in a high flow system really helps conserve your air
@@michaellambert2976 thank you so much for taking the time to watch and comment. From your question, I can tell you know a thing or two about cave diving. Sounds like you are a cave diver and have been to Ginnie quite a bit. 👌🏻 You are correct, we did very little pull and glide on this one. My camera rig pretty much dictates that I use two hands with it so I didn’t get to pull much. We had thought about just going up to the top of the cave where flow is significantly less but the boys wanted a challenge. They said we couldn’t make it to keyhole in the flow because we are “too old”. It was tough but we got a free lunch out of it. 😎
Thank you Bridgett! The fact you took the time to watch and let us know how you found us is very much appreciated. We hope you’ll keep watching as we grow.
great footage, I'm not cave certified so haven't done this but maybe one day. Just an observation, and everyone has an opinion, but it seems the diver in front of you would be better served by a frog kick in those tighter areas. The flutter stirs up the bottom, and wears you out quicker. Of course you all probably already know that, is the frog kick just not strong enough to propel you against that current?
You are spot on with regard to the flow in the tighter areas. It was INTENSE on this particular day. If you look again, even in the larger areas the flow was insane. To your point, normally he would be frog kicking. The flutter kick can really screw up a cave divers day if used improperly. If you have time to check our latest video “What is a Silt Out?”, we do a few flutter kicks when we turn our dive to show how bad things can get, very quickly. Thank you for taking the time to share some of your day with us and for the gracious comments.
I came from dive talk! I live in Albuquerque New Mexico not much diving opportunities around here lol. I'm working on quitting smoking and getting a bit healthier you're so that I can get my certification eventually and overcome my fear of open water.
@@jintermont thank you so much for taking time out of your day to watch, and thank you for your thoughts and encouragement. It really means a great deal to us. Keep in mind that you can start diving at any point pretty much. I was 330lbs when I started diving and Paul was a smoker AND was close to 325lbs when he started. I don’t know what locations you have that you can learn to dive in, but here in Florida there are MANY options that are very peaceful and less than 30ft deep. It really takes away the fear of being eaten by a shark or other ominous creature. If you ever plan a 4 day getaway to Florida, you can get certified on a weekend. You will fall in love with it.
@@FoundInTheRiverAndCaves And thank you for taking time out of your day to reply to me! That's awesome yeah the only time I've been to Florida was to visit my ex in laws lol. I used to be 300 pounds but I've lost a good deal I'm down to about 222 now, I had just always heard that smoking and diving was a major nogo. Yeah there's a couple dive places here in Albuquerque but it's all pretty much pool training there's really not too much here The Rio Grande is way too murky and just doesn't seem like it would be a good divePretty much the only other thing I really know of other than a few lakes here is there is the blue hole in Santa Rosa which is where Mike young lost his dive buddy a couple of years ago. We are located near Buford Sink and Eagles Nest. If you’re able to pull the footage you need from TH-cam, I would not be opposed as long as I agree with the video you’re putting out. I’m not a fan of the sensationalized “cave death” videos.
@@FoundInTheRiverAndCaves hey! I’ve never heard of those videos, what I really need is audio of the springs natural sound. Do you know of any such source? Is your audio of the natural sounds of the spring?
We have used a few instructors for various carts but most recently we used Brendan Stone. I think you’re asking about the DiveTalk video in which they reacted to us. If so…. th-cam.com/video/YknyfdIAxeg/w-d-xo.html Thanks for watching and for engaging us in the comments.
I hesitate to comment at the risk of sounding critical, but Diver 3 needs to work on his buoyancy control and propulsion techniques. Take a look at, e.g. 9:25, 10:13, 11:24, 16:34 - he should only be using a frog kick and staying off the bottom to avoid kicking up silt. If you were in most other caves and didn't have the volume of flow carrying the silt away, the amount of silt he kicks up could result in the cave being so silted up that you wouldn't be able to see your way back out. It would also make it impossible for anyone else to dive the cave until the silt settled back down....
It sounds like you’re a fellow cave diver. If you know Ginnie and The Devils Ear then you will understand the deviation from the Frog kick for some. The flow is always pretty solid and his knee was giving him a bit of trouble so the flutter was not a problem. But, to your point, we would have passed on the dive that day if it had been Peacock or most other systems. Silt is not a problem in the first parts of Ginnie. I’m not sure if you were able to hear the part explaining his leg issue. We normally swim at the top of the Ear where flow is considerably less. Thank you for watching and for commenting. It’s important to let non-divers know that you are 100% correct in your assessment. We did realize he would not be in perfect form that day, and Ginnie is much more forgiving than almost any other system when it comes to your observations. Be well and dive safe Sun Tzu
If you mean during this particular dive, it was 72’. My max depth is classified, as my instructor may be reading this and I also don’t want to encourage people to do the dumb things we used to do.
Ehren has been saving for a DPV, so it is definitely in our future. He has a blast every time he gets to use someone else’s. Those thing pull a LOT faster than it looks.

@@FoundInTheRiverAndCaves Hey dove Ginnie and it’s amazing. Peacock too. I’m coming back in July for my Choptima course and again in November for full cave. We’ll have to hook up
@@mikesbigadventures194 most definitely! I saw you on the live stream the other day. What was your favorite part of Ginnie and Peacock?
@@FoundInTheRiverAndCaves Devils Eye to the Lips and the Peanut Tunnel. Still not full cave so we didn’t go far but that was all I needed to get the bug.
@@mikesbigadventures194 I bet! It gets you quick! I know not everyone thinks they would enjoy cave diving, it’s just hard for me to imagine who those 3 people are. Lol. You can probably see why we were so drawn to it early on.
So glad to find your channel! I appreciate your humility and reference about learning from DiveTalk. When I have the money to get certified, I want to go to Ginnie Springs. Excellent camera work and beautiful dive.
Thank you so much!!! As an open water diver you can enter the cavern at the main spring because the cave is blocked with permanent bars. It’s an unreal experience…I highly recommend it, but do it with someone familiar with the “Ballroom”. (That’s what they call it)
Very good video. Just the right amount of narrative. Missing where to don equipment, entry into river, and distance. But, hey, I can't have everything.
Thank you so much for sharing your day with us and for sharing your thoughts.
Just for you, we will go back and get footage of the entire process for the viewers because you make some very good points. There may be a thousand people asking this same questions, missing the same things.
Thank you for letting us be a part of your day. Safe diving!
Awesome video! I always wanted to see a vid of scuba/cave diving where someone really explained the hole dive.
Sugestiom: Maybe you could include a breaf of the dive in the beginning like cave map, length...
Thanks! Great content!
Great suggestion! Thank you! We are just getting started and love the feedback. We will start including that in new videos. Thank you so much for taking the time to watch and for taking time to make us better.

Wow, thank you so much for the encouraging words. You have no idea how much that means to us. We have been experimenting with different lighting tactics to get the best view for our subs and all viewers in general. The positive feedback is such a momentum builder for us. Thank you again for taking the time to watch and especially for sharing your thoughts.
@@anthonyflynn5406 We are new to the DPV so lots of practice in open areas will be necessary and then we will get the DPV Cave cert. it’s a little ways off for us, but definitely loving the DPV.

Thank you so much Jacob!!! We really appreciate your kind words and support. Another video will be coming out soon. 👌🏻
Ditch the tank boots :) Go high through the gallery, look for places to hide from the flow behind rocks and such. Pull and glide through most of that and the lipps:) I always enjoy looking at wet rock videos though.
Glad you enjoyed it. Thank you for watching and for the tips. We will post the bootless video soon 😉
Beautiful dive❤️
Looks awesome. Hoping to dive the springs in Feb
It is truly amazing. Hopefully we can find a good time to dive together if you’re up for it. Thank you for checking us out.

@@FoundInTheRiverAndCaves You are welcome , brother .
excellent video quality and glad you guys got certfied. one thing that would concern me being in the back with all that flow is if something went wrong and I couldn't get my buddy's attention.
I miss diving this cave!!!

It was tough to listen to but it was more concerning to us that we let people down and mislead people who are new to diving or thinking of getting into it.
if im not mistaken one of those lights i am seeing in this video is a cheap amazon light i just did a video on it im working on uploading it as we speak
Absolutely. Those lights are affordable and really bright.
I noticed you weren't pulling and gliding your way through the cave. Is there a reason? I've learned that using your arms rather than your big leg muscles to travel in a high flow system really helps conserve your air
Great video BTW. I love this system
@@michaellambert2976 thank you so much for taking the time to watch and comment. From your question, I can tell you know a thing or two about cave diving. Sounds like you are a cave diver and have been to Ginnie quite a bit. 👌🏻
You are correct, we did very little pull and glide on this one. 😎
@@FoundInTheRiverAndCaves ha! That's great!!
Dive talk brought me here..:)
@@FoundInTheRiverAndCaves ty for the reply. If you guys keep cave diving these springs, you might need to get some DPV's to help you along!

I came from dive talk! I live in Albuquerque New Mexico not much diving opportunities around here lol. I'm working on quitting smoking and getting a bit healthier you're so that I can get my certification eventually and overcome my fear of open water.
Keep up the amazing work and the great content
i smoked when i started diving i didnt quit until i started doing decompression diving
But yeah I would love to be able to get over my fear of the open water and the unknown lol.

Hey! This is an excellent video. Are you local to the Florida areas? I would really like to get in touch to see if I can use some of your footage for a film project!

If so….
th-cam.com/video/YknyfdIAxeg/w-d-xo.html
Thanks for watching and for engaging us in the comments.
Wow , beautiful
