When I read this story LONG time ago ,I felt such a sadness in my heart that.... IF JUST she had been open minded with her friend ,asked for her forgiveness ,promise to pay back the cost ....THIS story, the agonies would not be here for us to be felt !!
"The Diamond Necklace" is one of the finest short stories ever written: its subject matter, narrative, and structure are all superb. It is said that there are two great tragedies: getting what you want and not getting what you want. Even today, we ladies always dress to outshine others at parties (or we believe we outshine). >>Channel owner: Have you considered "La Grande Breteche" as another Maupassant story for narration? It is a story of marital deceit and revenge.

I don’t agree. We dress to look our best selves. It doesn’t matter what anyone else is wearing.
