Some general tips i've learned using the AI: 1.) You cannot give orders to AI individually, all orders are given to the squad as a whole. However there are some work arounds that can work, if you want to have AI driving seperate vehicles you can recruit an AI, command them to get into a vehicle, and then dismiss them from the team once they are in the drivers seat. You can then recruit a second AI and command them to get into a different vehicle, if you go and recruit the original AI again both will stay in their current vehicles and you can command them to drive to a point on the map (be aware the AI are not good drivers and will often take a weird route to the place you want them to go). 2.) The AI will only follow your commands if you are within 1km of them when you give the order. 3.) The AI will always try to complete whatever the last order you gave them was. To avoid confusing the AI, before giving any new order you should order them to halt. Eg. Command the AI to move to a position, once they have arrived command them to halt, command them to get out, once they get out command them to halt, command them to defend area, etc. 4.) If more than one vehicle is being driven by an AI they will still act as a squad regardless of the distance between them, this means that if one vehicle is attacked the AI in a completely different vehicle nowhere near the AI being attacked might stop and get out to defend despite there being no threat to them in particular. In addition if a vehicle arrives at the position you ordered them to move to the other AI might stop their vehicle without reaching that position. 5.) Dismissing the AI from your group after placing them in a machinegun nest is a good way to set up ambushes around the map on roads you are unlikely to encounter enemies on but that you still wish to deny them access to. Eg. Recruit an AI and have them get into a construction truck full of supplies, drive them to an area where you wish to set up an ambush and begin building a roadblock and a machinegun nest, command the AI to get in the machinegun nest and then dismiss them. They should stay there indefinitely and if an enemy attempts to go down that road they will fire at them (note: the AI often takes a long time to begin attacking enemy vehicles, they either need to be very close or be in their line of sight for a fair amount of time, in addition once the AI begins attacking they will often abandon the machinegun and after the enemy has either escaped or been killed they will not mount the machinegun again but instead just stand around). 6.) The AI you recruit are from a limited amount of AI at whatever base you recruit them from. So long as they remain alive no one can build more AI at the base to replace them whether they are part of your team or not.
I use em mostly for surpressive fire and when driving the humvi put one on the 50 cal on top this a mad game adlay cheers from Australia we need the night vision goggles on ps5 would be awesome brudda
@MrKyleboywonder a feature request for this was placed in the arma bug report recently, its the only place BI actively addresses or realistically considers these requests. If you really want them to work on it you can comment on that report to show that you want it implemented. The more engagement and agreement it gets the more likely they are to notice and work on it.
AI that was taken from the base still counts as base defender or limiter to how many can be spawned from that base. This is very annoying because if they are left stranded because their human leader died you can't spawn new ones. You have to find them on the map. Also, you can't retire units and the only solution is to kill unit you dont need which is also stupid. They also don't respawn on long range radio or HQ vehicle which makes them use very limited. They also dont restock their ammo and other gear despite its on the vehicle but also stocked with supplies and I drop near it ammo supplier backpack, deployed radio and madpack. They simply don't restock from bodies, vehicle's, backpacks etc. This requires much more work. I think there shouldn't be limit per base for AI troops but per squad leader. Each leader should be able to recruit AI up to his squad free slots. This AI should then stick with him even on death and respawn on his long range radio or deployed radio or he should be able to fetch them again manually if no squad radio was provided from HQ vehicle or bases. In other words AI units after recruitment should be treated as human squad member's and can be only retired via squad leader. Also, they need to be able to collect ammunitions and medical equipment from available resource's nearby.
So long as your friend is a squad leader in their own squad they should be able to recruit their own team of AI, a good tactic if you wish to both run squads of AI is to each become team leaders of different squads and then each recruit your own team of AI. Then either adjust your radio to receive and transmit on their squads radio frequency or vice versa, now you can both communicate over radio while each commanding your own respective AI.

You can use this trick to have multiple AI mount different machinegun nests, go on explosive strapped vehicular adventures into enemy bases or run convoys of supplies (so long as you dont mind some of the trucks occasionally driving off to wherever the AI feels they want to go).
AI is still very very dumb atm, lot of work to bring them upto Arma 3 standards, put having to start again on the new engine has bin the problem. That fire at will command is a bit WW1, it should be weapons free.

My man!! Ty for all these
One thing I hope BI gives you the option to split up your squad into a secondary team so you can cordinate attacks with AI.
Agreed

Is there AI in the conflict game mode? Any game mode comparable to good ol' Benny's warfare of Arma 2?
Thank you.
Doesn’t work.
I can’t figure out how to make them drive
Recruit an AI, command them to get into a vehicle you are looking at, them order them to move to a position on the map
Thanks for the vid!
Do you know if you can play friends and they can have their own AI fireteam ??

Can you select them individually?
