    Wow what a cool cafe. Love that spiral brick in the center. Thanks for the great cultural lesson in bowing, as well.

    I use to work for a Japanese company here called Yamato in the states and the president from japan did a walk through and decided to hang out with me and talk ultraman because I had an ultraman shirt on. We hit it off and he was teaching me Japanese and the proper way to ow etc and later that day my Boss Mr Sato yelled at me and wrote me up because I was occupying the presidents time even though it was the opposite way around. I made Mr Sato laugh one day and he got angry at me shortly afterwards.🤷‍♂️

    I just watched a video yesterday on a foreign english teacher for the youngest school age children. Oh my god were the children the most friendly and clingy love filled and happy bunch I've ever seen. Totally unabashed and ready to be your friend. Hard to pick which is cuter a Cat cafe or a kid cafe. LOL!

    I agree with that don’t copy people be yourself. I think it’s to who you’re speaking to your relationship with them and how long you have known them is to how close you can stand to them. I know some people who come very close to me when they are talking to me. It depends on the situation.

    I seem to remember we used to have mobile libraries in the UK. Haven't seen one for years though, spending cuts i suppose! The one that comes to your village looks very well stocked. Long may it continue!

      I have seen book exchanges in phone booths in the UK in village areas. People leave books and you can lend them and put them back anytime on the honor system. Very cool.

    Is there a difference in bowing between city-dwellers and countryside folks ? Or even interpersonal distance between people? I am saying that, because in America, when farmers strike up a conversation, their interpersonal distance is often 2 or 3 times the distance of city-dwellers!

      Tokyo is just like any other city in the world but with just a few little things that keep it still Japan. They are slightly less picky about distance but still they like more than us. When dining out etc distance isn't a big concern but talking to people day to day no matter where you are keep some distance. The foreigners who hate on my channel generally all live in apartments in Tokyo and don't realize it isn't the real Japan. Tokyo is just another metropolitan city, good for a couple days but not much real Japanese culture. The countryside is where it is at for a good life.

      Also I live in the countryside when I holiday in the Hokkaido region and the library van is a godsend since I can read through many ( English ) books in the quiet country area. Plus lots of Gyokuro green tea if you can drink it by the gallon like I do slaving over a ceramic teapot all day 😊

    You're definitely right about not overthinking the details; start with the bigger parts of communication, like sincerity, respect and appreciation (which work the same everywhere in the world). Learning the language and culture falls under respect, and so does humility so learning 私の下手な日本語がすみません as early as possible is a good idea as well.

    I’ve been told that if you see and hear it in anime, chances are you shouldn’t try to speak or act that way in real life. Apparently it’s bad social manners and just a bit too kimoi to act overly animated or kawaii, and to call others “てめえ、おにいちゃん、お前 and きみ”.
    Who would have thought 🤷‍♂️???

    • @RealRuralJapan
      @RealRuralJapan  หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      Do people go around speaking like Bart Simpson in the USA?
      It is unpopular as a foreigner to state what should be obvious and the haters here pile on and i have to ban them. Good riddance. It is unfortunate that there are so many foreigners that do the whole act that i feel i should do a video on it. They are like Emperors with no clothes not knowing everyone is laughing at them. They are the minority here most foreigners have no time for them but again these videos are just information for those who may not know.

    • @chi-towncalifornia5916

      @@RealRuralJapan I would like to see a video on some of the kimoi behaviors foreigners do, because unfortunately too many people don’t seem to understand that Japan isn’t some giant version of an Akihabara arcade or amusement park, where they think they can act in ways they wouldn’t be caught un-alive doing in their own countries. I personally find it embarrassing with how socially unaware and self-unaware they are, and the fact that many of them claim the locals “don’t judge them” for giving others second-hand embarrassment pretty much confirms this. I think the problem comes down to cringy people acting cringy, and not feeling the immediate results from it due to cultural aspects of not disrupting the peace, and wondering why people avoid them like the plague. Go to Italy, France, India, Germany or even China, and obnoxious visitors immediately get the bollocking they deserve.

      @@RealRuralJapan I had a Japanese friend visiting while I was in Aus once and this girl in who was a friend of a friend started speaking Japanese to him in that awful "kawaii" anime girl voice along with all the mannerisms, He was very polite but when she left he grabbed my arm and said "Why did X speak like that? My feeling is very uncomfortable" He still brings it up years later.
      He was genuinely disgusted 🤣
