You forgot the scene when the crew of the Yamato detected earth reappearing in the center of the universe and Kodai says the Yamato won't be joining the EDF fleet to Amare and lumbers off to the Center of the Universe

革姫 でもバッドエンド版ではヤマトは銀河中心部に赴いて地球の行く末を見届けるって決断を古代が下したはずだから。
問題は、今は亡き西崎プロデューサーが、プロットを残していたかどうか。
非難が色々とありましたけど、兵器の使い方（防衛スクリーンを展開するミサイルとか）や、ヤマトを護るために他の惑星の艦船が身を挺して守るところとか、色々と心を揺さぶられる描写があって、これはこれでヤマトだと思うんですよね。
続編が見たいです。できればブルーノアの姉妹艦を活躍させてあげて（）
