Hey Jordan! I really liked your day in the life, you totally deserved those views. My friend has celiac, so I kind of understand the struggle of finding something to eat. Anyways, hope you have an awesome day!

Hi Jordan, my son is 18. How do I announce this to him? I think it's going to be a wreck. My son also has T1D, and we received a report of a 54 on his sensitivity test.

I am so sorry to hear that :( I was crushed when I was diagnosed, I felt like my world was ending. I would tell him gently but tell him that there’s so many gluten free options and restaurants now and more and more are coming up every day. It will be okay even though it’s scary and life changing. Please let me know if you have any more questions I would love to help…

I can’t believe this cross contamination can’t be fixed for you.

      It shouldn't happen.
For some of us, cross contamination = death. I'm actually not shocked but those chefs cannot be in kitchens if they don't understand cross contamination risks. Someone could die.

Honestly it’s not really their job to specifically accommodate for one specific person. If I wanted to be super super careful (like i should be) I really just shouldn’t eat in the dining hall at all.

having allergy and cross contamination training should be required. especially for college campuses where you dont have access to spaces to make your own food safely. if it is not safe you can get an accommodation from disability services to have a personal kitchen to use and be exempt from the meal plan or atleast have it reduced. College campuses if they require a meal plan MUST accommodate your needs. As long as there is no open flour in the area there is no reason for dinner services to be unable to accommodate your needs with separate prep area and equipment. stay safe
