N.E. Ohio. I’m selling a face cord of seasoned oak delivered within 10 miles for $190.00 and I think my pricing is average for premium firewood in my area, so yes pricing has been moving up in the past year or two which is needed.
We are located in So. New Hampshire. Our Seasoned firewood ( NOT kiln dried ) is $ 465.00 per cord delivered within 15 miles. Green firewood is $ 40500 per cord. We buy in grapple loads so we have a lot of dollars tied up even before we begin processing. Yes, we have a Multitek 2040 processor along with the clean out tumbler and disc cleaner. Have you been to the grocery store lately? You shouldn't be surprised at the pricing these days !
Same here. Nashua here. I tell the wife and kids. Keep ur jacket and hat on when they get home. 😅😅. Thank goodness elections are coming up. Gas prices are dropping. The american way
Thought the same when I went to the grocery store this AM. Wholey moley, how did I get to $70 so quickly.... Thanks for the watch. I just sub'd as well to you. You are so close to 1000!
In Cincinnati, Ohio I only deliver, 1/3 cord for $150.00 within ten miles. Mixed hardwoods mostly maple, elm, ash, hackberry. I keep oak separate. Our weather is all over the place with minimal snow.
You can't really compare kiln dried firewood vs. regular seasoned firewood. Of course kiln dried is easily going to bring a premium price. Not only will the moisture most likely be lower then regular seasoned firewood but the big thing is it will be bug free, which is very important to some people. Another reason kiln dried wood can bring a premium price is being able to provide ready to burn wood when other suppliers are sold out during the heart of winter.
Great points. Kiln dried is really nice for the on demand firewood. But on the other hand, here in Wisconsin to be certified bug free it must be heated to 140 degrees for 60 minutes, or stored on premise for 2 years. So theoretically, they determine 2 year old firewood bug free as well.
Sebago Maine I pay $166 per full cord tree length. A firewood supplier in our area Meetinghouse Farm and Firewood is selling cut split delivered for $265. Pretty lean margins.
You have to compare apples to apples though. Their prices are for kiln dried firewood. Is your firewood kiln dried? A seller can ask whatever they want for their wood, doesn't mean they will get it. You'd have to look into their operation to see how busy they are. If they are flat out, then yeah, have another look at your prices. I tell other sellers, the only time to put up prices is either you are flat out busy and doing so will slow the demand a bit, or, if your input costs have increased. Not sure where you are but here in Nova Scotia locally a cord of seasoned mixed hardwood sells for CAD$275. (USD$205). We sell a stacked measured cord of seasoned for $295 (USD$220), delivery is extra. Our delivery fee currently (changes weekly) works out to $1.80 per km, about US$2.15 per mile. But most of what we sell is kiln dried and it's $100 more (US$75) per cord. We have to buy our logs and that represents 50% of the input cost.
Agreed, but also slightly disagree. To the end user, they want to buy firewood to burn in their house to heat, to cook, or for recreation. I doubt they care how it gets to being dry enough (through kiln or air). They probably only really care about how much they pay and how much they get. Plus, if it is actually dry. For sure, if you can sell it at a price, and you sell out. Raise your rates a bit. People will pay what they are willing.
@@OutdoorsEngineer I'm not sure where it originated from that's just what they are called in this region. No one sells "cords or face cord" it's all sold by the rick same thing as a face cord thought.
Hey there! 👋🏻 Just Subscribed. I get $100 per face cord picked up and $125 delivered within 15miles. All seasoned Red Oak, Hickory or Cherry. I don’t mix hardwoods but sake them species specific. I’m in East TN Take care, Brandon
Thanks for the sub Brandon! That seems reasonable, and what I often thought about selling if I had the face cords to sell for bulk. How is the weather this time of year in TN?
@@OutdoorsEngineer It’s a roller coaster right now. Was in the 60’s last week down into the 30’s for the weekend and back to 60’s this week. Just all over the place with a little rain mixed in.

@@OutdoorsEngineer hi, yes Canada dollars and yes I sell immediately. Most of the time I split into the truck then deliver. When you said the other company charges $4 per mile delivery….. Is that both ways of travel ?
@@OutdoorsEngineer It would probably be comparable to 130 dollars American. However it is still not comparable because our gas here is higher. Regular fluctuates between 1.40-1.60 a litre or 5.60 a gallon. Premium 1.60 to 1.90 a litre. Butter is 8 to 10 dollars for a stick. A wedge of parmigiana cheese is 11 dollars. A bag of normal beef jerky 19 dollars. A pack of cigarettes 22-25 dollars. Our cost of living is way higher here. If you sell a cord for 465 in the states we in Canada should be selling for 665 to equal cost of living.
I sell hardwood bundles in SE MA for a 1cf bag for $10 or 3 for $25. Seasoned quality oak, 99% bark free. First season, sold about 100 bundles so far. Will offer .75cf bags of dry seasoned pine for $10 bag or 4 for $20…no brainer to buy four at a time. Will sell .75 cf bag of kindling (pine/oak/maple/etc.) for $5.
firewood in western ny must be the cheapest on the planet because here delivered is 70 dollars a face cord, Thats right 210 dollars for a full cord and thats for premium hard wood
I think for years the labour involved in processing firewood has went unappreciated especially for those who process from tree, to hauling by hand, bucking and splitting, transferring, stacking, loading and delivering. There were family who were trying to pay less for my cords of wood based on “not paying you for the wood but just for the labour”. I would tell them I sacrifice the cost of my labour to sell you the wood. If I were to charge you by labour, hours and product you couldn’t afford me.
I think I'd be in that price range if I started selling in bulk. Although, I'm keeping better track of my sales and inventory now and am average $200 a face cord with sales in the roadside stand.
@@OutdoorsEngineer ya sold out for the year 112 face cords didn't think would haven't sold fire wood in 20 years but had no trouble since I won't sell wood less than 2 years old. Have 175 stacked for next and just going to pile it from now on
The prices you saw on market place were more than fair. Otherwise, you're basically getting paid for labor and placing no value on the firewood itself.

Where I live, North West NC. Firewood goes for around 375 for a full cord, not delivered
