I'm 6'1 and 175 pounds and travel 70-75 MPH comfortably with my Duke 200. Once you get past the break in point the bike really comes alive. Sure, it's no rocket but it moves pretty well for how small it is. Definitely not a highway cruiser but you can keep up with traffic when necessary.

Glad to hear you say that. I've been riding since the 80's and I have decided to get a smaller displacement motorcycle to commute and cut up on out in the country. My last motorcycle was a Yamaha FZ1, so this is going to be a huge change of pace. I have however rebuilt and rode several old Honda twins my favorite one was a 1973 CB200T. I would absolutely Max that thing out and it was so much fun, especially in short twisty roads. My son had a ninja 250 that we got for super cheap then we bought a used engine off eBay, this was the Early 2000's, and we wound up with an excellent condition ninja 250 for less than a thousand bucks. Anyway, we would take our little bikes out to the piedmont forest and the Twisties out there and we would drive like absolute maniacs. I couldn't ride my FZ1 like that or I would be dead 😂😂. Anyway, just reminiscing about it because I'm 99% sure that I'm going to grab one of these things after seeing the reviews. I have a 10 mile stretch on a highway and the limit is 60 mph, and it sounds like the duke 200 can do that. The other cool thing about these smaller bikes is any performance upgrades that you do is noticeable. I'm going to try and get mine pepped up and kicking ass for what it is. I'll make sure to break it in good before I start giving it the beans, but it's a blast running a small bike to the limits IMO. Thanks for the comment brother, I have seen a few people with comments like yours so I think it's just what I'm looking for. Later

Duke 200 is roughly half the price here in Indian market around roughly $2400 and Duke 390 and RC390 around 4800-5000$
Yamaha have neglected indian market, R3 2020 and MT03 2020 were never launched. Yamaha R3 ABS 2017 was available here for 6500$ and Ninja 400 way above 7000$ making both Yamaha and Kawasaki out of the range for a lot people. It was really hard to swallow the Indian pricing considering you can literally get same amount of power on the Duke for half the price, I mean it's crazy.
Keep up the good Work Chase, love your first ride impressions, camera angles and B Roll

I'm considering this for my first bike here in NYC. Within the five boroughs, the speed limit rarely goes above 50 mph, and not many folks push it beyond 60, if we're lucky enough to not have traffic. I think this bike would work in a lot of urban centers where traffic congestion just won't let you go fast practically.

So I just scored this bike for a forth bike in the garage and my wife’s first motorcycle . As of today you can get the 2020s for...drum roll...$2799. No really, several dealers here in Florida have them advertised! So, Chase’s review and experience are all under KTM’s break in mode limiting the bike to 7500 rpm till 600 miles. Trust me, the bike makes beans well above that and becomes a different bike above 8k rpm. He’s right, if you limit it to 7500 it’s not much stronger than a Grom. Wring it out past that and she comes alive! Another cool fact is the 200 has the same swing arm, fork, wheels/tires, and brake calipers as the 390! That means the lower power/weight of the 200 create a real corner carver that has the brakes of a GP bike. This little gem is the best deal in dealerships right now, hurry.

After 1000 miles of riding one, it's a fun bike. I've had speed as high as 78mph. It revs high and is geared low which makes it feel pretty adequate for any roads that travel up to 70mph. Average fuel economy has been around 90mpg. So about 180 miles on 2 gallons of gas. It has a 3 gallon or so fuel tank so not like you will run out of gas in a short time. Featherweight light and agile. It's almost 32" seat height so you get used to riding one foot down fairly quickly. I take it on the highway, run 70mph for about 5 miles, and hop off to roads that are 45mph. The bike is perfect if you want something super easy to ride at practical speeds.

Just so you know if a bike comes out of an indian plant it is guaranteed to have less HP & more Torque at lower Rpm, we keep the torque band low so as to keep the vehicle traffic moving and easy to work with at lower RPM, and also you are riding an entry level bike which is also supposed to deliver decent efficiency of 30km/l (although it is substantially low according to us) so you can't expect the kick in the pants feel from an entry level bike.

I own one, I would say once its broken in it feels a lot like a cbr300r or a ninja 300, it has a lot of punch for a 200. I think if you find one used for like 3k its a great deal. They have a lot better fuel range than most bikes so you don't have to fill up every trip. Which gets annoying if your use to small bikes. I also feel like they have enough power in a urban setting to have fun without going way over the speed limit in seconds.

We have a lot of 100-250cc bikes here and if it helps, the Duke 200 is one of the more flickable bikes and has better handling. If I remember correctly, the final gear ratio is nearing 3 on the Duke 200. And as you said, the Duke 200 needs to rev high. We have small racetracks here and the Duke 200 is a fun bike to ride there. For long rides, other bikes even the old ninja 250r would be more fun.

I assume it's in 'Transport Mode" because a 200cc bike with 26HP will yank the front handlebar if you gave it a full throttle at slow speed. This bike is fast, topped about 160-170 km/h ish. If chase were in a rush and not having any option to choose, well he choose the wrong decision. Why would he still do a first ride if the bike was still in "Transport Mode", this gave the bike a full handicap. This is a bike that would only serve as a basic city commuter, with a bit of fun worked in. The 200cc should say it all.

Why is that the KTM guy at the dealer missed to explain that because it is a new bike the sift light is set low at 6000 rpm but then after break in it moves up to 10000!!

A couple of more observations. I like that you have video from a chase vehicle. I'm thinking about buying one of these. I have a GS 1200 and a 690 Enduro and I'm just looking for a good looking city hopper. So, there is another demographic for this bike. 👍

Please do another test after the bike is broken in. Then it should run a lot better on the highway.

I got the 2019 duke 200. Should have waited for the newer model. But too late. Just gonna custom my bike to a cafe racer or better a scrambler. At least it doesn't have the abs to get to a dirt road from time to time. And, subbed.

Duke 200 can do a max speed of about 134 km/hr which is roughly 90+ miles/hr so your average American highway speed of 70 mph is easily available and also the bikes have something called a break in period so as to allow all the coolants as well as oils to circulate and open up the engine so initially till the first 2 services the bike is locked at 8k rpm I think that is the problem, ride it till 1000 km and you won't have any problem

My 2020 390 won't go above 6k rpm until 650 miles is on the tac. Its programmed for a break in period.
