- Searching for C-Shels Season 3 Episode 10. In this episode we continue our tour through the Exuma Land & Sea Park, first stoping to dive the Sea Aquarium and a nearby plane wreck. We then exit the park and spend the rest of the time near Staniel Cay, where we do a little provisioning and snorkel the famous Thunderball Grotto. We also have a unsuccessful visit with the swimming pigs of the Exumas.

We are a traveling couple, looking for a non mainstream life of living aboard a boat and cruising in the Caribbean/Bahamas in Winter, and the Great Lakes in Summer. Working when we can to fill the cruising kitty. We have sold everything we own, and we now own a cruising yacht. We have chosen to do this voyaging under power, instead of the popular sailing route.
Our mission is to help inspire people to live their dreams earlier in life, instead of waiting until retirement. So often retirement dreams are dashed by health issues, or other unforeseen later life circumstances. If you have a dream, then dream, plan, and do it now. We hope to make you smile, and spark the urning in your heart for fulfilling your dreams.

Hi Everyone! Thanks for your patience waiting for this one. One question we have is what do you think of using the Pigs for animal tourism in the Bahamas? We certainly have mixed feelings about it. There are "stories" on how they got there, but one thing is for sure, they remain there as a tourist attraction. Maybe you heard about a bunch of these pigs dying a couple of years ago. We don't think the cause of death was conclusive, but some were saying it was because of people feeding them things like alcohol. Let us know what you think!
As always it can really help us out by commenting, liking and sharing our videos. If you are here and are not a subscriber, please consider becoming one. We love having you aboard, as we all work together to fulfill our individual dreams!
The pigs own that island, they’ve been there for years. Look healthy and happy when visitors come. They can get a bit aggressive for food, typical animal behavior. My 3 lb Pomeranian gets aggressive for food too. Enjoying your videos immensely.
Pigs, who doesn’t love a good pig barque and ice cold beer. Come on that’s we’re there headed.
Off the hook snorkeling video. Nice Fins! Love the Johnny D plug-in. We own Johnny’s inflatable
off his old yacht. It’s on our dock in Jolly Harbor, Antigua, WI.
Ok Love your closing line! And long May your Big Jib Draw. You nailed it👍

Aloha Love🌺 Jen & Art
Thanks Jen & Art! Always nice to hear from you. How did you hook up with Johnny's Dinghy?
The pigs on the island are fine. It’s the ones in the bar that have to go.
FYI, it’s a doable walk (with a cart for your garbage) to the dump on Staniel Cay. Good exercise and free. It’s near the northern end of the airport runway, on the road to the old Club Thunderball. Enjoyed your video!
That's good to know, thanks Ralph!
I don’t know enough about the pigs to offer a well reasoned opinion but from my perspective from snow, ice and 19 degrees F your surroundings are very enticing - even without the pigs! Thank you for the post, I always enjoy them.
Yes I guess pigs are not the draw if you want to escape winter. Thanks for watching Tim!
I enjoy watching your videos.
Thank you for sharing.
What a beautiful area for snorkelling, as my lazy boy is for living vicariously through your travels...lol...
Thanks
Great to see a new vid!!! The pigs should have never been fed. Now the are aggressive. Its not going to turn out good for them. People screwed nature up again. Sad. Good to see you back!👍👍👍
Thanks!
As always, a wonderful insight into your adventures, thank you both for the time and effort you put into creating such beautiful videos. Looking forward to the next one. Andrew
Thanks so much!
Guys, great video as always, definitely worth the wait. Every once and while you should post a raw, uncut video that documents a single event......would be a nice break from the multi-cut productions. For instance, how about a tour of the mechanical systems of the boat? Any new upgrades/projects in the works? Walk-around of the Dinghy? Would love a demo of the helm station. Keep up the great work!
Thanks. We put your ideas on the list. Cheers!
Another splendid video. As always, your vids are anxiously awaited to provide a relaxing 10 minute respite to my usually hectic day. Enjoy your journey!!
Thank you Michael! That is very kind to say.
Hey you two! Finally got to see this video. Internet in Mexico and running around all day held us up. We had a great time. Got back home Monday night. Mexico 85 degrees and arrived home at 10pm to 17 degrees and snow in the morning. I had to work a few days and still recovering. Talyn had a cold arrived home and felt crappy. She took off Thursday but worked today and feeling a little better.
I learned a ton from my buddy with the catamaran since he was down there at the same time. We thinking of doing contract work in Yuma, AZ and keeping a boat in Mexico on the Pacific side for many reasons. Holler at me sometime and I can tell you why.
Have you used the osmo pocket and the new mic yet? Editing is superb! Thanks Sheldon and Cyndi! I made a couple of short videos because internet super slow in Mexico. Salud you two and safe travels!
Beautiful underwater shots thanks💞🇨🇦
Awesome video guys. I take it that Cyndi is not partial to having a pig as a personal pet.
No, definitely not. 🙃
I love your videos you're so fun to watch my wife and I in the next year or so want to get a trawler it's so nice to find a video other than a sailboat have a lot of fun guys you're an adorable couple
Thanks for you very kind comment! Hope to see you out here on your trawler in the future. Cheers!
Another well done vid - your cinematography is really improving :) . The Google Earth/Maps stuff is making it very easy to pinpoint snorkeling and anchoring locations for voyage planning. Your experience with at Pig Beach isn't uncommon, and I think we've decided to not have a visit there in our trip. There is another pig beach that has just recently popped up over in the Abacos - another one 'built' to support tour boats. Honestly, I stopped following posts about it when the locals started talking about how upset they were getting. Over crowding at TB grotto was new though, thanks for that tid-bit. I bounce back and forth sometimes between your vid and Waterway Guide to see what other people say about the marinas/mooring fields/anchorages you've stopped at and notice many of the places you've visited don't have any, or very few, reviews on them - if you have the time it would certainly help the cruising community (especially us motor cruisers) if you could put in a few words and ratings. Keep up the good work, and above all else, relax and enjoy the good life.
Thanks Paul. Very nice of you to say. We would say skip the pigs, but don't skip Thunderball Grotto. Even though it is busy, it is still a wonderful experience if you have never done anything like that before. It's so easy access that one has to put it on the list. Good point about the reviews of places. To be honest, that is what our blog would be for, as a companion to these videos. However, the blog takes a back seat sometimes with our focus being on these vids.
Oh and on the Abaco pigs, yes we visited those in our first season down to the Bahamas. Again we don't know how they got there, but there is a guy on Green Turtle Cay that has taken up caring for them, brings them water and food daily. The pigs in the Abacos seemed less aggressive than these Exuma pigs as well.
Another good job. I have been checking waiting
Thanks Mark.
Great video and can't wait to be in the Exumas next year!
Beautiful waters. Watch out for those darn pigs. I see Sheldon wearing what looks like a nice waterproof backpack (grey with red bottom). I have a small one but looking for larger wearable. How do you like it and what brand, etc.? Thx
I came across this video and said to myself this boat looks awfully familiar. we're anchored right next to you in Hatchet Bay. I'm on the ketch BLOWN AWAY. Let's grab a drink!
Hi Blown Away! How did you enjoy that storm last night? We almost all got blown away! 😉 Just seen you leave the bay, where are you headed? We are headed north within the next couple of days. Maybe see you somewhere along the way.
@@SearchingforCShels That was a violent storm. I see you guys held alright. Sorry, we're headed south Exuma way! Change your plans and c'mon. I'm sorry we didn't get to meet. Well, I'll be tuning in to your channel now! Safe travels.
One more thing it just shows who tunes in to your videos and might just be your next door neighbor 😉 I'm sure we'll cross paths again. ! "Small world"
Ha! We came from the Exumas! Might end up back around there before we head back to FL.
Do you have FB? Let's keep in touch and meet up down there if you make it back down there
Yep, Searching for C-Shels on Facebook and @c.shel on instagram.
Thank you for Another great video have a wonderful time!
Hell of a edit job I mean superb, nice storytelling guys.
Thanks so much!
Another great video!
Thanks!
awesome video as always, the pigs one is interesting. i'd have to know more about how they are cared for.
Thanks Cody. Yeah we are not sure how they are cared for either. We wonder would they get food or water if no one brought it to them?
another Great video eh ! missed you guys.
Great job as usual.
Shel, get a haircut ya hippie! Ha! Thanks for the updates, safe travels!
One will come eventually... :D
Your videos are at the summit of what I watch on TH-cam. How much planning do you do in advance of taping? Do you have any suggestions? What is your recommendation for an all-around camera? Could you do a video on how you make your videos?
Thanks Bob, you are very kind. We plan more now than we use to, but still 75-80% of the stuff is unplanned, we are just taking as much video of what we think is interesting at the time. You know, if we were to have one camera, and we needed it to be waterproof, then there is nothing like the GoPro Hero 7. If you wanted really small and keep it out of the water, then new DJI Osmo Pocket is a nice choice. If you wanted a little bigger with the ability to zoom, something like the Sony A7 III, Panasonic GH5, though we have not used those last 2.
We will add your video recommendation to the list of episodes we will do. Thanks.
Great advice, thanks! Just ordered the GoPro Hero 7.
What’s up with the golf balls at the end? Did I miss something?
Hi Scott, no you didn't miss anything. Though if you follow us on Instagram @c.shel, you may of picked up in some recent photos posted of Emerald Bay, where we are currently, that there is a golf course wrapping the area. It is a championship course. Lots of golf balls in the surrounding water.
Are you originally from Newfoundland?
Hi Jason. Yes we are from Newfoundland. We both grew up there.
@@SearchingforCShels Have you taken the boat to NFLD.
I thought so,we a just across the way a little in Cape Breton watch all your videos best of luck and long may your big jib draw
@Dean Parsons No we have never take the boat to NFLD. Might be something we consider in the future. 😀
will you be coming up the Erie canal in NY this summer?
No, we don't think we will take the trip north this coming Spring in the boat. May leave the boat south. Of course plans change on a dime for us, so you never know.
Don't Need no Stinking Badgees~~~~~*~~~~~~^~~~~~~~
You should check out Technomadia on TH-cam they know about the Internet .
You are not a farm girl.
Maybe people shouldn't feed them, they can be little piggy's...?
Not sure actually. We wonder what they would eat and drink if no one brought them food.
