Thanks guys for the continuous quality content, I started playing baseball 4 months ago at the age of 37 (transitioning from 16 years of american football) - where I'm from in Europe, it's only on amateur level, but with these contents I can practice even on my own a lot, and that's a huge help!

Trying to get my grandson up to speed, this is our next practice session. Throwing from the rubber has been a DISASTER! Thanks for all your help!!

As a dad with a son with one more season before HS tryouts we try to get in as much side work/BP as possible. After having elbow surgery a couple years ago my throwing BP skills are shot, even from close distance, but I am able to under hand him rounds of the "heavies" weighted rubber balls so he can at least work on his swing timing and they are great at letting the batter know if they're making solid contact on the barrel or not.

Can you post a link to that conversion chart you mentioned?

Roughly it's speed you throw multiplied by mound distance divided by distance from plate you are throwing. For a 60.5' mound if you are throwing 40 mph at 30.25' away then that simulates the timing of an 80 mph fastball. You can factor in stride but it works out pretty close.

One thing that is often overlooked is the angle in to out. If you set your L screen to close to the 3b side you will teach your right handed hitter to open there hips prematurely. Very bad.

My biggest challenge with throwing BP is not tearing up my arm. I throw good, hard strikes, but 300 of them in a session leaves me hurting.

Same here...I tried preparing my son's team for the playoffs and threw 600 pitches at about 65mph. My legs were jello after the session. We still lost though.

Coaches able to throw BP are the coaches whose teams are successful. They call me Coach Pringles 😉.... because of all my chips....get it? 🏆
