Nice idea for 2 band antenna. Sometimes I put the fiberglass pole threw the coil . helps keep wire on pole in wind. Saves on some tape. So many ways to deploy. Ground mount verticals work great for DX . easy setup Sometimes the villosity factor of wire affects the length a bit. Conductivity of the ground matters as well. I found that out using different wire and in a different park. 73
@@ivanrogers1 Hi Ivan it’s a figure which provides enough choking on the higher band and sufficient loading on the lower band. Rough rule of thumb is around the same inductance as the half wave in feet to choke .. so in this case 33/34uH on 20m.
I'm slight amused that you couldn't find any shorter bolts for the coil terminals! That seemed to work great on 40m, I might have to try that. Will have to use more silicone sealant to get another tube for coil making...
I'm going to give that a go Tim, thanks. Just a thought. I might fix it approx 1 metre from the ground howevet and have just 2 or 3 elevated radials. Any thoughts?
@@johnrowe4907 sounds great! Remember at that height they should be tuned so either do a link to attach or remove for 20/40 or build the same version as the vertical with the coil. 73
Very interesting Tim but don't think I am going to find the time anytime soon for 40m even though it's been buzzing. All my attention is on 10m where the world is an M7's oyster. 73 M7BLC
Cool antenna, Tim! Thank you for sharing and be well, 73 from Tracy VE3TWM.
Thanks Tracy! One day I’ll work you on the air! 73
lovely set up its so simple and very effective Another brilliant idea Well done my friend keep up the good work, Tim
Thank you !!
Worked rather well! Nice to have a chat on 40< it's been a while! 73! Tom.
Sure has mate - catch up soon
Good job there Tim. Might have a go at that.
Go for it!

Well done....looks like a good one for portable...
Thanks!!
Got to build me one of those Tim. Thanks and 73 G0JLF
Go for it John!
@@timg5tm941 I built a scaled version years ago as a 40/80m sloper. It worked well but obviously the loading coil was much bigger & heavier. 73.
Haven't seen the G90 or the walking boots getting much of a outting yet Tim, but great video as always
Soon! Work been mad and weekends full
Tim, how did you derive at 34uH as a choke for 20mtrs. Is there a table or calculator depending on what frequency you want to choke off?

Another great video Tim, hope you don’t mind me asking how you supported the DX commander pole without any stays?
Thanks Paul! I use a screw in umbrella/parasol holder

@@paulsengupta971 yeah I just used some scrap stuff I had laying around to put it together in a spare 30 minutes 🤣
Hello Tim, how many radials did you use and how long are they? Cheers
Hi about 40m in total (16x2.5m)

Indeed! But bear it in mind in 4-5 years time when we enter the doldrums again.
Looks great. Just need the link to purchase it.😂
Link added to calculate the coil! Oops! Thanks Brian!

Nice work tim - what voodoo do you use to keep the mast up :D ? 73 2E0FWE
A screw into the ground beach umbrella holder .. ok on calm days!
