  • In this video we will be unboxing the brand new AirDesign Soar 2 paraglider. What positively suprised me the most was the small size. Quickly measured the glider to about 56x36x12 cm in "uncompressed" shape.

Hi Toby - could you post a quick review once you have flown it please? Especially im interested whether you think it's at the hot end of high Bs, or whether it is suited to more relaxed flying for pilots moving up from low B. Thanks!

Hi. I got to test the wing fore one flight and I would with my limited experience say it's a really easy wing to fly. The wing didn't cause me any kind of problems or suprises during any moment of the flight. I have previously flown a BGD Epic for roughly 40 flights, and now during my first flight I got almost immediately got the same "safe" feeling as I had while flying my Epic. The weather was pretty good, only small gusts so I can't tell how it behaves in more rough conditions, but it never did anything suprising, the wing almost felt a little bit "boring" as it behaved so well and gave me instead time to focus on finding thermals. If you haven't already read the review by Ziad Bassil of the AirDesign Rise 5 (Normal weight version of the Soar 2) I strongly recommend you to read it ziadbassil.blogspot.com/2024/04/air-design-rise-5-s-ev-hybrid-saloon.html.
Take everything I say with a grain of salt, as I have very limited experience of other High-B wings, only flown a Niviuk Ikuma 3 for two flights and in comparision to that wing I would say that the Soar 2 is easier to fly. I will make a more thorough review when I get a camera and some more flights. I will post a video shortly with my comments, but i have no video of the actual flight only gound handling.
