They literally had a perfect template in the original logo, and somehow made it look like something aunt Denise cobbled together because she couldn't figure out how to send the original logo on Facebook... Like, it's not even symmetrical, WHY????
I feel like they missed the chance to go with the original original scrawl of the design

As a graphic design major in college BOOO ME HATE NEW LOGO 😡😡👎🏾👎🏾👎🏾 but being serious if they made it not look like it was about to fall over it could work and im definitely more fond of the second font being used for everything,, the multiple fonts being used at once took at least a couple years off my life
I love your delivery because it’s so fun. Though you’re complaining about issues with the logo, you’re not droning on about its issues

your delivery is amazing, Harry. intelligent, sarcastic, but also kind. so many people on Internet use commentary genre/podcasts as a way to justify their venom and aggression. I don’t feel it from you. it’s like you’re genuinely amused and trying to make something good out of absolutely ridiculous things happening in the world. and it’s so comforting to watch-even tho most of the time I’m clueless on your topics of choice (like I don’t live in the US, but I enjoyed this video). kudos to you, keep going!

The idea of changing such an iconic logo designed by possibly the greatest graphic designer of the 20th century is actually insane lol. I don't know what the hiring process was like but it seems like they picked a fairly unknown independent designer (who has some good work). When we have some of the top designers and agencies in the world who would presumably do this pro bono it doesn't make sense. I don't think the people involved understood how skilled you have to be as a designer to capture the emotion and message in such a simple design as the original.
The logo is so beneath them that none of these real New Yorkers even wanted to talk about it

I just wanna say that although I am a loyal viewer of your channel, I feel it necessary to go out of my way to state that, I don’t know about anyone else, but I personally have been alive since going way way back, all the way back, to the old timey days of 1986. And I know what you’re thinking, and you are right- I look exactly like grizzled age worn graphic designer Milton Glazer. Only I am a woman. And I was born in the Pacific Northwest. And up until the steady and annoying influx of Portlandia-inspired transplants into my home town (and former residence) of Portland Oregon around 10-13 years ago, we didn’t really have all that much to be grizzled about.
I also wanted to compliment you on your new sponsor and let you know that The Hundred really sounds like the sort of indispensable bespoke information hub that I’ve been looking for. Please look at Milton Glaser's posters for the Catskills (Upstate NY to you out-of-staters) that feature giant cats blended into the landscape. They are AMAZING.

i just recently visited new york to look at colleges and i completely fell in love with the city... though that wasn't because of the lame ass new logo. i really hope changes can start to be made about making the city more affordable to live in rather than focusing on a slight change to the heart design and a different font because a logo is not the most important issue rn. thanks for the video, i really enjoyed hearing your thoughts ab the new design (IT'S LITERALLY PLASTERED EVERYWHERE LIKE WHY)

Accurate portrayal of the deli guys at zabars lol. Re the logo, i think it would have been really cool to do a design contest open to residents of nyc (like the spider i voted sticker in ulster county). I would have loved to wear a logo created by someone who lives here, the actual voting process could have been a good 'community building' activity, and the art would have probably more accurately reflected why nyc is special. The new logo's 3D heart emoji is so tired and cheesy, and the posters mostly look like they're made for/by rich transplants.

I know this video is from 3 months ago but I know why there's a couple of spaces in front of "renaissance" at 4:48. It's because whoever typed this up had to Google how to spell renaissance and then they copied and pasted it into Gmail which has this horribly annoying feature where it adds a couple of extra spaces whenever you copy and paste into the body of an email.

How the hell did NYC try to sue SNL when Los Angeles did basically the same concept with the same logo and a song? Did the LA campaign come first? If it did, New York would have a copyright claim to bring against SNL. But if it didn’t, then it seems like New York would have a much stronger case against Los Angeles than they had against SNL.
