Love Sonoma. It flows so well. Those tires were screaming for their lives. Looks like a track alignment and a fresh set of tires would knock a few seconds off. Sub 2:00 would be pretty quick especially for your first time there. Keep up the good content.

Tires for sure. Set of cup 2’s would take care of all your understeer issues (even with stock alignment, as there are buckets of grip once they reach operating temps) but of course you’d get maybe 2-3 of these HPDE’s before you have to throw a fresh set on… pay to play ;)
Cup 2s are not what use on these cars for time attack 🤣 pretty much there a few 200tw tires for time attack. Nankang, Yoko, falken are pretty much the top 3 now
@@piercetm not sure I understand your comment, but with that kind of logic I guess everyone using slicks at the track are cheatingx2 rather than care about grip. Tires is the first thing, before you start messing with suspension geometry
@@JFlogerzi I have sampled it all (besides Nankangs, which I hear great things) and for some strange reason, I keep going back to Michelin. And I don’t work for them lol

Awesome videos i love how much you share about the car. Living vicariously through you until i can order a 2023 model. Really looking forward to the alignment and camber adjustment to see what the results are. Sounds like the stock alignment is very tire friendly in terms of wear on public roads. Does the car feel more nimble on the 17s as opposed to the 18s?
After one lap I remembered that I knew This Track from Forza Motorsport. 😂 looks fun! Can‘t wait for the GR86 to come to europe. Probably going to trade my GT86 in for it.
Oh dang I was at this event. Think I saw your car on track. I watched from the garages. Was in the black Speed3 in a different run group. You looked super quick from my vantage point hehe.
Great driving, like all the in-race comments added. Definitely seems like a tire issue for the hairpins, you'd think the car wouldn't understeer that badly as you weren't going that hard
@@JohnZhu1988 lower grip, a tire the communicates and tells you when your on the edge of grip. Something's not just on/off. Also sticky tires cover up mistakes as a driver. Which means you will need to unlearn bad habits later on.
Seems like old and new models both suffer the same understeer from factory. I'll find out for sure at my next track day. Will be trying a stock 2020 BRZ.
Highly recommend doing the SPC adjustable lower camber bolts + OEM upper crash bolts. I was able to get -2.6 camber which greatly reduced understeer in canyon/track driving.
That right hander when you're coming down hill and kept putting two off on the left.. Most cars will have a tendency to understeer there due to the weight shift forward and you're braking. It really shows though your tires just losing grip and the car needing a better alignment. There's a similar/slower sort of turn at my local track. At the risk of being captain obvious, with the current state of the car (in this video) I'm thinking you have to take that turn slower as coming into that turn too hot the car won't rotate and you just push off track. Following the s2k's line doesn't work for a stockish 86..? Either way nice videos man!

Just a little entangled with brz or nd2, which car has better cornering performance? I already ordered the new brz but when I say your s2000 nd2 video, I start entangled.
That's too bad a car like this lacks any negative camber out of the factory. Looks like stock spec's range is centered around 0 degrees, which is an odd decision.
5:36 when you're beta testing a game and the tire clips through the track geometry What actually happened there? The tire squeal doesn't make sense to me
Those tires just seemed lame honestly, and I hate understeer, the new mx5 understeers too much IMO too. It’s not enough to make you hate the car because you can correct it but it’ll never handle as good as my heavily modified mr2 spyder.

I would honestly go there with a set of good fresh tires before installing everything. That can probably make A LOT of difference.

Big Gran Turismo 4 vibes. Tire Squeal and all.
