Thank you so much, Hope! My parents first took me to see Revelations when I was a child growing up in Chicago. I have carried out the tradition with my boys (who attend you alma mater). We were so proud and overjoyed when we came to see you and the AA troupe at UNC’s Memorial Hall in February. Bravo!
Thank you all for Revelations and for Lazarus. I first saw Revelations as a teenager in the early 80s and Lazarus last year in Boston. Tonight I introduced my daughter to it. Doing this little workshop today was so much fun.
This is brilliant!! I love teaching students about the Alvin Ailey Dance Company, especially Revelations and Cry. I saw the company in Adelaide South Australia, when my mother took me; Divining, Cry, Revelations and the Stack Up. It was one of the most inspiring dance performances I have seen. The energy, the emotion and the sense of purpose that emulated from those dancers was something you never forget. This video is a wonderful way to teach Dance History. For students to learn the repertory from the experts.... what an opportunity. I can not thank you enough for sharing this.
Thank you so much for sharing. My heart is warmed by this tribute and sharing of Mr. Aileys legacy. I have watched YOU, Clifton, Dwana, Linda, Glenn, and others perform, take class at the Ailey school, or give master classes when I visited the East Coast for YEARS... And I was honored to take class with Mr. Meyers in Canada. The Alvin Ailey dance company was and still is an amazing inspiration for me. Some years I would see all three shows in Seattle. You showed me what was possible for a dancer who was willing to work. I first saw the Ailey Company live in my late 20s, and that night inspired me to immerse myself more in dance, leaving an engineering job to go back to college and earn my dance degree. After dancing for many years and two children, I continue my journey in the arts. I will certainly share this movement with dancers I work with and add my inspiration. This is so wonderful for the company to share the legacy and the movement to the world. We love and thank you. I will also tag a clip of my past choreography to Revelations music. One with the Music. Dance is Life!!!!
