yo guys! By request, Uncle Ben Eller here is gonna break down something you all have been asking for for a long time... John 5's signature banjo guitar rolls! Most of you all know John 5 from his solo band, plus his time playing live and in the studio with Marilyn Manson, Rob Zombie, and many others.
On Weekend Wankshop 177, i'm going to be giving you all a lesson on that hillbilly hootenanny HeeHaw style series of telecaster banjo rolls in the key of G that we've heard John play in numerous interviews (like the Hello Kitty guitar styles video).
This is definitely influenced by John's love of HeeHaw and classic country and bluegrass music. Its all played fingerstyle, and has some of the hallmark progressions of old timey bluegrass tunes. There are two different picking patterns, so be sure to learn them both and apply them to chord progressions and arpeggios of your own!

I never had any interest in finger picking until I watched your video and challenged me to learn this. I have the utmost respect for John 5 and his versatility as a musician. Will you be showing us the other styles that he plays in his Hello Kitty video? Thanks again for the challenge. Great teacher!

I do that closing riff too, a little differently. I learned it from a Blind Blake blues book. It's plucking high e and g simultaneously with fingers on the same fret 2 3 4 3 2 and the rest Is obvious.

The "cute little ending" is virtually the same quirky lick right before the main lead in Extreme's "Play With Me". That might be a sweet burner of a solo to do some wankshoppage on one of these days :)

I like your channel because the lessons deliver the goods and they are easy to understand.
So I stop in sometimes and pick up a noodle, but no rice.
Sorry Uncle Ben! (wasnt there an "Uncle Bens Rice" like a billion years ago?)
Why do 90% of guitars play like shit above the16th fret or so? Notes choke out, or just die fast, or they buzz like razors. Why why why? Is it voodoo magic to find a guitar that playes equally well from fret 1 to fret 22 or 24?
    Dam frets anyway.
What is the nature of all life in the Universe?
    Short answer please..........
    Thanks
