EXTENDED HIGHLIGHTS
As a Christmas fixture RBAI hosted Royal School Armagh's 1st XV at Cranmore at 10.30am on Tuesday 28 December 2021.
The first half was a close affair - with RSA taking a 0-3 lead with a penalty in front of the posts after 10 minutes. Inst scored next with their flanker Edwards touching down for 5-3 but it wasn't long before RSA's pack rucked to the RBAI line and eventually dotted down for 5-10. RBAI responded a few minutes before half-time with a try from their tight-head prop A Armstrong. 10-10 at the break.
Just minutes into the second half C Beaumont - who set up a good position near the RSA line with a long solo run - finished off with a try after the ref had awarded a penalty yards from the line. Converted for 17-10.
Next up Inst's No 8 Ward finished well from 15 yards, converted for 24-10.
The Armagh side never gave up and it forced it's way into RBAI's half a number of times but Inst's larger size up-front was becoming increasingly dominant and Inst's final try came from good forward work 10 metres from the RSA line followed by a fine long pass from the ruck by scrum-half C McGrath to left-wing J Beattie who touched down in his corner.
Final Score 29-10.
